mars was a toolbox
LOL, that is funny. Same thing would be said of me too, I am sure. I could see why though. I think I he played in some fu&ked up time zone, and because I usually played so late, like 1:00 am EST, it was early evening for him. Amazing how we can brand a person and let it affect judgement in game.
My main reason for posting here again is to ask what did he do to tick off B and what did you do to get him so upset to quit and not come back?

first of all mars was from australia, had a 3 second ping, and i cant believe he got any enjoyment out of the game anyway. at least not from competition...he must have been poor because fellow TTers bought him a new modem...what the...?? anyway mars hated tanky because tanky impersonated foulplay and got the pw to his server or something stupid like that. i befriended tanky because he was the best and i wanted to learn the ways of the force. when i started playing like tanky i started dominating a little more every day. mars didnt like the style of play which includes diving, bming, running away, etc. the majority of players in this game started playing like that because they watched me kick their arses on a daily basis. the reason is because i was unemployed and played WAYYYY to much...it didnt take long to become the best when you have that kind of time...i guess the main thing is that im not afraid to speak my mind. mars would talk trash in game and i would dish it out. he wasnt special, i do that to anyone!! lots of folks like mars who have no shooting skills did not like scrum changing to a bm/dive/teamkill style. i was largely responsible for changing it, and in the process lots of people quit, most of which were morons anyway. id say even more bmers and ctfers came into scrum after the style changed. to this day i think people are stupid who say "oh the days when the swipe ruled the game..." you cant swipe from behind. it requires some luck to always be between the runner and the goal. most of the time the goal is nearby and you actually just a camper.

this is thinkTANKS. TANKS have guns...learn to use them or be mauled!!!

Ah, I missed out on a lot back then by playing late and never trying scrum, that was where most things were going on. I was using different name(s) too, wish I had just stuck to one, but honestly there were at least a dozen others using a million aliases then, especially in the TBM servers, never knew who was who anyway, just seemed the thing to do at the time. Plus having others playing off the same IP for a while, would probably have taken a 1 gig file to list all of the names coming from here.
Always kind of wished I was more involved in scrum from back then, I finally tried it out about a year ago and found it was a blast, but the servers and people on now are so polished and tight knit it is tough to meld, especially for me having made a few drunken rants for no apparent reason, once your on the bad side of some of the admins & vets and lose respect it is not easy getting along in such a small gaming group where everyone knows everyone.
Ah well, I'll keep plugging away, having fun with the occasional indie games for now, and still popping into the Bash for some late nighters.

GS, CB, kind words & very cool.
Never intended to spin the thread into a "me" thing though, distracting from what could be a neat thread.
Took a look in my old Acom external drive and found the oldest screenies I had, from TBM 2. This was the ill fated team I was on, w. Ben, aka Fried Chicken, starting the season as capt and booking after the first game leaving us to fend for ourselves.
Here's Del and I trying to hold off a 5 on 3, can't remember the other 2 playing, maybe was Lauryn on our side:

And a random one, notice ol' Get Some taking it easy on us? Freakin' guys were ruthless back then, especially before the forfeit rules )

A lot of late nighters in the TBM servers are in these, I can now remember someone always commenting about hippies whenever HH was in a game.
Always wanted to reach through the cables and choke 'em, like Homer does to Bart.
Fun times, if nothing else.
