You're asssuming that I believe my Catholic ideals are irreputable. Haven't I hinted the opposite by stating we as a species have gotten the message wrong and use it as a tool of non-acceptance of others?
Tired now. Must sleep. Will try and do more tomorrow.
OK, one more thing. Your belief is based on accident. All conditions needed to create life here on Earth have accidentally happened. To me that's impossible to believe considering there's no place in the viewable universe that holds the potential for sustainable life. There also must be many coincidences combined in order for life to begin. Contrary theories to my position clearly appear to be absurdly impossible.
Are you gettng my point or am I still jumbled? If any of these coincidences, and they are coincidences, were to not happen there would be no life.
Just because your pappy told you that you were an accident doesn't mean the rest of us are yah Rebutthole.

Don't leave. Just admit you've lost the discussion. I won't rub it in...much.
I concur, it's a tough read around here. I don't claim to be smart by any stretch, I'm actually comfortably dumb, but this site has fallen off.
Unfortunately I don't have the energy or wantingness to go somewhere else.
I belong to one political discussion group, which frustrates me at its base to begin with and I don't last long. The other is an outdoors type forum. You can only talk about fishing and hiking so much even though it's a great community. I've actually met up with a few of the folks and hit the water. Good people those outdoor types. Meh.

came across this one late...but it interests me.
i gotta say that i more often fall in line with stinks arguments but i do see where Rogue is coming from.
the problem i have with both sides of this argument (and all debates on this site involving religion) is that no one has bothered to define what God is to them. the argument is inherantlty flawed because on one side (that of faith) we dont even know what we are arguing for.
Stink pointed out that depending on your geographical existence that the faith you may have assumed would vary. this is true but what is also true is that ALL people on this planet whether they be communities that have access to the wealth of knowledge that technology affords us or communities that exist untouched by our modernities have actively pursued the human need for some kind of faith. you can even go back throughout history and identify any culture in antiquity having practiced some form of faith based religion.
to me it matters little the differences between these various faiths and it is more than useless to argue which one is right or better as they all serve the same purpose for those that practice them. what is important, i think, is to accept that it is human nature to want/need/seek out some form of faith and as individuals to understand why we do it and what purpose it serves in our lives.
to dismiss faith as unreasonable is folly if the desire is to then be able to apply that faith to all. doesnt work that way. but to dismiss science because it does not conform to ones faith is short sighted at best.
for this argument to move forward i would really stress that anyone offering their opinion should clearly state what God is to them so that we can have a concept of what it is we are discussing.

faith has nothing to do with religion. Religion is mans creation, not god's. god never said be catholic or protestant, that's man. If priests and preachers told the truth, no one would show up next week, they would go to a church that preached what they wanted to hear, not what they needed to here,to be saved. The priest or pastor ( which means shepherd) would be looking for a new job. Faith is belief, in the absence of proof. God chooses who to bestow faith on, those that he has already written their names in the book of life, will be the ones that will share the afterlife with God, the rest will not. Many will be called, few will be chosen. Most, simply are not listening and just will not answere him. Satan will yell at you, God will whisper, You need to find the quiet in your life so that you may hear. semper fi ( latin for always faithful ).
Judge me not for what I do, but for the reason why I do it.
