Geez what a bunch of idiots here.

My wife works for the school system here and she admits that she is overpaid for what she does. $24 bucks an hour and she has to look for things to do. She feels guilty.

No wonder our society is so fucked up.
@KKB that was your post so I concluded from the post that being paid $24 for essentially looking for work to do felt like she was gaming the system.

She feels the need to do something. She loves her work, maybe thats why she feels she is overpaid.
she feels she would be overpaid no matter what she is paid because you make good money and she is in the line of work because she loves what she is doing, not because you guys need the money.

I don't see the logical connection between the posts or the topic being discussed. Call me an idiot.

A bit of it regarding "trickle down" economics...
Most research shows that a rapid rise in the top tiers of income started around the 1970s. There are various theories as to what kicked off the trend. But experts tend to agree on one thing: The continued upward trajectory for America's wealthy elite, which far outpaces that of the average American worker, was helped in large part by public policy.

"Deregulation of the financial sector seems to have created greater risk for the economy as a whole, and pushed up incomes at the top," said Jacob Hacker, Yale political science professor and co-author of the book "Winner-Take-All Politics."

Hacker argues that instead of "trickle-down economics" -- a theory that says rising wealth for those at the top eventually benefits everyone -- there's been a trickle-up effect.

How so, Cloud? Been in many state prisons? How many private run prisons have you been in? Serving time are we? You can't expect to make a statement like that an not be called out on it.

I've toured every single Pennsylvania State Prison for a work project a few years ago that required a site survey of every prison. They are a perfect model of inefficiency. Oddly, we were delivering a technology solution for a PRIVATE company that was allowing the State to save money on healthcare costs.

Trust me, Wexford Health doesn't perform their service for sharts and giggles. You and I pay for that. It's not free. Private industry pays attention to costs because it is trying to turn a profit. Governments don't pay attention to costs because they aren't trying to turn a profit.
The privatization of the prison industry gave private companies more money

Which they pay taxes on, and their employees pay tax on their earnings from such company. And the company doesn't needlessly piss away money then raise taxes when they need more. The contract gets put out to bid, and if someone else has a better deal, then THEY get the business.

Furthermore, That's Rand Paul in that video, not Ron Paul. My kid says stupid chit too, but it doesn't get attributed to me.

I like your personal anecdote. It must be like that for every private prison, for every private payment, for every private "anything" to do with Private prisons. The whole point of the thread is the fraud that Arizona republicans did.

You honestly think that there is a substantive equivalence between Rush L., Glenn Beck and Maddow, Mathews and Maher?

First of all, you need to let Mathews outta this: he's an equal opportunity suck up (See his comments on Bush during the "mission accomplished" spectacle). He practically spawned sympathy wood talking about how presidential Bush looked in his jump-suit.

I take it you've never seen Maddow. Let me key you guys on the right into something: liberals are very found of something called skepticism. Have you heard of it? Well, it is the foundation of science, for one thing. Maddow takes a very skeptical approach to everything she covers, and she examines her own prejudices, biases and perspectives regularly. Which is why she argues from the established facts. And also why she will admit it when she is proven wrong...and get this...she will then revise her perspective, and move forward with the new information. She won't just keep repeating her false beliefs ad nauseum.

Clearly, I don't have to make the case in reverse for the lunatic Beck, or the angry white tool Limbaugh. Not only do they completely lack the ability to question their own motives, they are both disdainful of skepticism in particular in whatever guise it takes.

Beck and Limbaugh argue from their prejudices, and where facts are convenient, they cherry pick them; where they are not, the make them up of whole cloth. They are a study in logical fallacy, and in Beck's case, madness.

Maher on the other hand goes off half-cocked, and says some cogent sh*t for every crazy notion that leaves his mouth. But hey, he's a comedian. You get that, right?
