Three questions in one post

Post by TrouserChili »

I bought my copy of TT from one of those game sites that occasionally puts it on sale for next to nothing.

1) Can I get garage games support for this copy TT?

2) Can the TT folder on one computer be copied to another computer and run properly where the OS on both is Vista? I ask this because I copied it from my Dell and can't get it to run on my Toshiba, it just freezes at the gray TT, Bravetree screen. Still works on the Dell, but the Dell is a bit sluggish.

3) If the answer to number 2 is no, will i get garage games support if i buy the $7 TT that is on sale or do I have to buy the $20 one from gg? Wife hates me spending money (or time) on TT.

Thanks

I'm running a Mac, so I'm not sure about your first question. Usually, if you copy it over you get asked to register again. Usually not a problem. You might need to do something like update a driver for your video card... sorry I can't help with that.

You can try to post on their site and see if GG will help out.

As for the cheap site, I don't know where you can get a deal on it right now. Reflexive seemed to be out of business last time I went there.

I can really relate to the wife issue, though. Good luck.

You can't do a strict file copy and paste over from one computer to another. I tried that and does not work. You need to install on your computer.

Also, be aware that on Vista, you are not necessarily pasting it in. "compatibility files" and other actions require admin privileges, which it may not be granting. Not 100% clear on this, but was an issue when I tried to paste in Dazzle's pack.

I haven't had to reinstall TTs for 4 years. I've formatted and switched my comp many times in that 4 years. You should be able to copy TTs from your program files and paste it into another without any problems. I just send a shortcut to my desktop from the new one I pasted and thats it. I have 5 copies on my server that all work great too. My vista version let it work that way too. Even windows 7.

Hmmm. Maybe it was because I was going from XP to Vista. OK. Whatever works. You have the answer from the expert.

Thats the funny part. They all came from a XP install. You do have to be patient though. It seems to take a long time to move it. Don't know why. Its only a gig or so. On a older comp it may take 20 min.

On the GG support thing...lol gl.
They all seem to be going to conventions or something now. Been trying to check out Instant action a few times and all I've been able to find is videos of where they have been. Nothing of where the games are. Anyone know what happened?

Thanks for the input. Problem solved.

@ Jerry: I.A. has been down since early March to upgrade the site to allow the embedding of all their games. TT will supposedly still be available when they relaunch.
