Any guitarists?

Post by DJ Wings »

Are there any other guitarists here?
I use a Yamaha EG-12 with a GA-15 amp because I'm cheap. I restrung my guitar with 14-58 gauge strings (for a C standard tuning) and added a Behringer OD-100 distortion pedal. I'll be getting a Roland Micro Cube amp sometime soon, tomorrow if all goes well.
What's your setup like? Any advice?

I have a limited edition white les paul studio with an DG 10 musiya amp
I also have Gibson Wildcat (partly my dads) refitted with hum-bucking pickups for that we use an indie amp
then we have a les paul premium goltop replica and to suit it a nice big marshall amp
Brainfart...

I am a guitarist/bass player. I also build guitars. I have a Fender P bass, a Kawai fretless bass and a custom made mutant Jazz bass. I have a strat, a custom PRS type guitar, a custom Nashville tele, an old Yamaha FG 160 and a Martin HD 28. I play guitar through a POD XT Live and a Peavey Classic 30 and bass through a Carvin Red Line 1000.

^ Now I'm impressed. :)
The amp came today, and it sounds decent, especially for leads. The lows are a bit muddy, but restringing it with better gauges might help.

DJ: Why not get a baritone guitar? Most standard guitars seem muddy and floppy to me when they are tuned to C.

I thought I could get away with just getting a 7-string kit, and it works because of the extra tension, except that since the highest string is 14.5 gauge, I can't tune very high, and the low string still buzzes a bit if I pick it really hard. So I'll just get an 11-54 gauge set and tune down to D.

Well, I have two guitars, but I don't know too many fancy numbers that come after them.

Acoustic: Alvarez, strung with the standard medium gauge Martin strings. I think the fret board is ash, but don't quote me on that.

Electric: Jay Turser, I think it's the JT300 series, but the neck and fret board are much brighter than the stock guitars on the web. All of the metal parts have been switched to what appears to be brass, maybe even gold plated, and the fret board looks like honey. I think it's maple, but don't quote me. I honestly have no idea, I bought it used for 179 bucks.

Amp: Roland Cube 30. It's solid state, but it's pretty awesome. A lot of effect controls, and plenty of power for what I do. I also have the fender micro amp. It comes in use whenever I want to play up in my bedroom and not have my parents eavesdropping.

If anyone thinks they can help me figure out what kind of guitar ye olden jay turser is, I'd be more than happy!
