Here is a tutorial on how to make a dedicated server on a mac.

1. Open Terminal which you should find in the Applications on your mac.

2. Go into your Mac OS folder that is inside your Contents folder inside ThinkTanks.

3. There should be a document in there called ThinkTanks OSX, drag it into the terminal window.

4. This should come up in your Terminal window after you drag it:
/ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX

5. After OSX type -dedicated -mission game/data/missions/CHOOSE A MISSION -Game CHOOSE A GAMETYPE

6. Replace CHOOSE A MISSION with a mission like, TT1_1.mis and Replace CHOOSE A GAMETYPE with a gametype, B (Battlemode), TB (Team Battlemode), S (Scrum) and TS (Team Scrum).

7. It should look something like this now:

Code: Select all

/ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX -dedicated -mission game/data/missions/TT1_1.mis -Game B
8. Press Return (Enter on PC)

It should start. Keep Terminal open and your server will stay up.

Missions:

TT1_1.mis: Medulla Mesa
TT1_2.mis: Hypothalamus Hills
TT1_3.mis: Cranium Crater
TT1_4.mis: Freudian Flats
TT2_1.mis: Hippocampus Hollow
TT2_2.mis: Comatose Canyon
TT2_3.mis: Greymatter Gorge
TT2_4.mis: Pituitary Plateau
TT3_1.mis: Synaptic Slopes
TT3_2.mis: Ganglia Gully
TT3_3.mis: Neurotic Nexus
TT3_4.mis: Receptor Ridge

I hope this helps you mac users!

The filepath may differ from computer to computer, even from user to user. Better way to do this is:

1. Open the Terminal
Applications -> Utilities

2. Get inside your ThinkTanks game using Show Package Contents and go to the map MacOS that can be found in the map contents.

3. drag the file (you should only see one) that is located in the map MacOS to the Terminal window

4. type -dedicated to let it know that its a dedicated server followed by [SPACE]

5. type -missions [SPACE] and now you have a list of options:
  • one specific map: game/data/missions/NameOfThe.mis [SPACE]
  • all lush maps: GREEN [SPACE]
  • all spooky maps: BLUE [SPACE]
  • all frantic maps: RED [SPACE]
read a tip below

5. type -Game [SPACE]
  • S for Scrum
  • B for Battlemode
  • TS for Team Scrum
  • TB for Team Battlemode
And you re done..

Here s what I ended with and what yours should look like when you use the GREEN, BLUE or RED tags:

Code: Select all

/Users/joren/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX -dedicated -mission GREEN -Game TS
or when you just specify a map

Code: Select all

/Users/joren/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX -dedicated -mission game/data/missions/JungleBoogie.mis -Game TS
tip
When you re hosting a rotation of maps often hosters will use the "GREEN" function in their dedicated servers. You just replace the .mis in the mission folder (leave the .ter as they are) for example:

ScythzIsCool.mis becomes TT1_1.mis
AndSmartToo.mis becomes TT1_2.mis
ButHeStinks.mis becomes TT1_3.mis
....
AhWellAllGood.mis becomes TT1_8.mis
....

As far as I know you can go as far as ya like :)... and then you just need to use the GREEN to host them all, otherwise you have to set up the mission loader..
