New Old School scrum server

Post by MkIV »

Need some beta on my server. Barring lightning storms, router acting up, I'll try to keep it out there for some testing.

The idea was to go back to the days when scrum was about stealing and dodging, more than just shooting (somebody get the Professor on the phone and tell him to come back home and give this a try). The bot names may raise a chuckle if you've been around scrum a while. The idea came to me when one of these old war heroes came in for a game this year and said "Too much shooting now."

Some of the maps are stock scrum, some are stock Roo, Dash, and MM (but "old school"). You'll need the TT Mod Pack to get through the rotation. I shop at ReagentX's: http://reagentx.home.comcast.net/

It's running TS, since this is the least commonly served scrum I usually see on the list.

Many thanks to Roo, Scyth, Daz, Dash, Sparrow, and all the others who helped me out here.

BTW, if some annoying trolls want to come by when I'm in, I need to test my ban function :-)

Best, Mark

Anyways, glad I could help.

Good news, MkIV!

I was in there a couple of days ago, and it was a lot of fun. Good maps, and the shooters have to get more hits in to kill you off. Perfect for the fun runs, and driving becomes more important. It reminds me more of how it was before everyone became a better shooter than me.

Thanks- I really enjoy it

@ Gort:
The ammount of FB's would be enourmous. I might be able to write a script to avoid FB's, just need to find the time. I am terrinly busy these days.

Good idea, I actually tried a version with no shells. It was kind of cool, cuz powerups became (lol) useful for a change, but the fb factor scyth mentions was just too much. Even a bronze bot could score easily if it got past you. And the fun of "peace scrum" (the shooting restraint) just wasn't there.

I was there with Mark, Memphis, 44 and some others. Talk about FUN!

I wish this was the standard for scrum today. Definately more challenging.

Thanks Mark!

You could make some kind of script that makes it so the scrum doesn't become active until it's taken to the nongoal side of the map then you can run it back to the goal. Maybe a "pre" goal that activates the scrum so that you can then score in the real goal. This would allow the other team to take positions around the real goal. This would make the no shooting type of game work.

Anyways, great server MK4. I'm looking foward to some gg's with all you in there.

Judging by your avatar photo, no one's seen your gun in years...

Thanks. I haven't figured out how to put in a note about the mod so despondent gunners don't go jump off a nearby real cliff into nearby real fog... Is there a way? But I've strengthened the bullets a bit now.
