People incorrectly and harmlessly posting in the new thread options provided us or somebody who is not a moderator continually telling people they've posted in the wrong place?
I vote for the latter.
If it bothers you that much why not message a moderator instead of posting ineffectual notes that are more annoying than your perceived error commited by that person?

Actually, I too was getting bored by the lack of enjoyable content here on PTT as voiced by folks in other threads. I then decided to root out the problem using my Inspector Clouseau like skills. The infamous Wrong Thread Off Topic Bandit is to blame.
