Fine, that song is fine although I still hate rap. I will also revise my statement. Most rap songs suck.

Re: All I Do Is Win
Interesting topic, worth my time.
@ The numbers...
#1 Well, yeah sure...takes talent to make a GOOD one though... No, not anyone can just scratch on a record. Takes hours of practice and finding records that match the beat. Saying that anyone can scratch with turntables is like saying anyone can play the drums. Both instruments (if you will) require a unique sense of the groove in the song.
#2 Not all songs are. Not all rock songs tell you how to "deal" with them. So that's that.
#3 No....many sub-genres in rap like in rock (not saying they're the same, so don't go ape !@!@!). Not all rap fans dress like that. Some people just dress like that because they want to, they're not trying to be "that person." Again, not all of rap fans. It's called a dialect. Yes, I agree with you, but those are the posers, and it's easy to tell when they are posing. But back to dialect. I my self sometimes screw up grammar and words without even knowing (not from lack of education....). Sometimes my brain says "I don't have any," but "I ain't got none" comes out instead. Simply something you either keep or try to learn to control. Not all do it to follow their "role models."
4. Listen to the music in the videos below...tell me those songs sound the same and talk about the same thing. I think this point was just a sdflasfkasfklsaklfslk point.
#5
It's called mainstream....which sucks, I'll agree with you on that. I only listen to trip-hop, underground, and 90's; which all are completely different versions of rap, due to the generations. [EDIT] The race thing. Jedi Mind Tricks, for example, has a white rapper as the lead MC of the group (Vinnie Paz aka Ikon The Verbal Hologram). Not all music videos contain white or black people for rap. The videos that you have seen were probably set in NY and most NY rappers usually have black people in them. Not being racist.
Parental Advisory for the videos below.
Trip Hop:
Underground:
and from the good days:

Sure, these sub-genres may offend your religion or race, but most music has it's way of offending people.
#6 You can have...never been to one, so I'm not going to run my mouth on it.
#7 Haha, I know I said ^ but just cause its a "rap concert" doesn't mean you are going to get shot.
#8 Ebonics? Covered that on #3. It's like your trying to tell a native French speaker to speak English right out of the bag.
#9 Yeah yeah, west and east. Different style of music, not all rappers want to "bust a cap" in the other side. Some of them represent for both sides, can't shoot your own brother.
Rap (underground, trip hop, and 90's, mainstream is trash...) require a open mind. If you cant open your mind, rap isn't for you. Read my sig, every single person that I know interrupts his lyrics differently.
Back on topic, I have no idea who this DJ is.

Re: All I Do Is Win
Anyone can look up a random rap song that sucks (yes, that song sucks) and post the lyrics and make an assumption about the whole genre. And I have to agree with TMG, 90's & Underground is where it's at.Ice mom KT wrote:Fine, that song is fine although I still hate rap. I will also revise my statement. Most rap songs suck.

@ TMG- Ever listen to someone called Rakim? He was well known way back when in the duo "Eric B. & Rakim" but he recently (2009) released a new solo album. Best. Lyricist. Alive. Or maybe tied with Eminem. If you cant open your mind, rap isn't for you.

Re: All I Do Is Win
I remember the name, from two tracks, Don't Sweat The Technique and Paid In Full. I looked at his single albums, he has some really sick beats; really nice lyrics too. Don't know if your into graffiti rap, but take a look at a duo called "Artifacts." They put out "Between A Rock And A Hard Place" (their best album imo, look on YouTube or buy the CD or Vinyl) in 94 and "That's Them" (iTunes, Amazon MP3) in 97. Unfortunately, they split up after their second album and became solo artists. I don't care for them as much as solo artists, they had a really nice thing as a duo, oh well.

Yeah, Paid in Full is nice. Whenever I think of Eric B. & Rakim is "Eric B. is President". I also really liked Tupac/Outlawz and Biggy and all them old schoolers.
I'll have to look up Artifacts. Seems really interesting.

Re: All I Do Is Win
Despite what Ice Mom started, I enjoy most rap. I believe that any songs/genres/lyrics/artists that put you in a good mood, is worth YOUR time. This by no means implies that everyone has the same taste in music--obviously. The original example of DJ Khaled is an interesting song. The first time I heard it was Sunday while on my way to the Senior Tea. On my way home from this event, I heard it again and picked up on some of the lines of the rap. Picture this, a girl in a fancy dress with her hair all prettied-up blasting a rap song from her car. Anyway, back to my initial point, opinions are what make each person different from the next (or similar). Everyone might have a different take on a certain song/genre/line of lyrics. It's just how society works, and that's the way it's always been.

Re: All I Do Is Win
Exactly. Nas & Rakim are definitely classics. Kanye is relatively new, and I haven't heard to much KRS1. But this is what real hip hop is. Thanks, English.
