I use TGE and I don't know how to get fog could anyone tell me, in detail?

And for when I have fog, does anyone know how to set up a pre-load? And how to post Pics? :?

I don't know where that is and if i did it probably wouldn't be there so could you tell me it in a bit more detail plz eg. "go to the world creator menu on your TGE...."

Send your finished map (thats the .ter file) to Reagent X so he can include it in the mod pack.

Fog and map set up

Once you have finished set up the map for game play, these points are important for the map to run well. First adjust the mission area so that it is a tight as possible around the map, use the mission area editor (F5) to do this, do not leave the mission area at the default which is massive, get the area in tight to the map. Second bring down visible distance (World Editor Inspector F3 - click the + sign next to mission group sim group, then click expand all - then scroll down to visible distance - remember to click apply when you have set a new value), reduce it so that the map only draws at its full length. By this i mean if you place the camera at one end of the map keep reducing down the visible distance setting until the end of the map is just visible , in most cases this will be somewhere around 600-800. This is extremely important as the lower the visible distance the better the map will play and will reduce server lag. Finally the fog, there are two fog things to set one is the fog distance, (World Editor Inspector F3 - click the + sign next to mission group sim group, then click expand all - then scroll down to fog distance - remember to click apply when you have set a new value) the fog distance should be less in value than the visible distance. Say the visible distance is 650 then I would set the fog at say 600, although you could have it less than that depending on the effect you are trying to create. And finally the fog height and color (World Editor Inspector F3 - click the + sign next to mission group sim group, then click expand all - then scroll down to FogVolume1, FogVolume2, FogVolume3 - remember to click apply when you have set a new value), these are the easiest to set and sometime overlooked in the great effects you can perform. The fog height settings might look something like this:

100 100 150
100 151 200
100 201 250

or
1 1 1
1 1 1
1 1 1

The fog can be managed in three layers, which is the three lines, each line has three sets of numbers. The first number (100) is the density of the fog, the second number (100) is the starting height of the fog, and the third number (150) is the finishing height of the fog. The starting height must be one number higher than the finishing height of the layer below.

Set the floor value, its in the same menu as the fog volumes. Floor value is the height, from the bottom of the mod, at which tanks die. So say the upper fog volume is 220 set the floor value at maybe 190. You may have to play around with this and test it in a server, if the value you have set in TGE is not what you want just adjust the value in the mission file save it and reload the server and test again until you get it how you want.

I assume you're using Windows. Select the .mis and .ter files, then right-click on one of them and go to "Send To -> Compressed Folder". Upload the resulting .zip file through a host like RapidShare or FilePlanet (just examples).

Simon, you are only using standard x-pack objects so there is no need to preload any of the objects or terrains, its just the map (.ter file) so you can do either or both of the following:

1) Like ^ said zip up the .ter file and upload it to a site like rapidshare or to your own box.net or photobucket account, then post the download link in your map thread.

2) send your .ter file to Reagent X so he can include it in the mod pack, see his mod pack thread here: http://forums.planetthinktanks2.com/Thi ... ?f=13&t=14
