Joe, I'm a pretty Savvy Mac user and would provide pretty useful comments in the Mac Beta.

Please let me know how I can help. I'll keep an open mind and provide honest opinion.

Unfortunately form my PC I get the black window, but have no interest in why it happens as I'd never play on Windows. My game playing machine is an Apple.

get rev-share from being sponsored
As the obvious inspiration for the "Trout" tank, I demand rev-share.

Unusual concept, making money from the community rather than the product itself. I hope it works out, and I hope all visions of future IA TT become reality, but I will never pay $ for a "thinktanks avatar pack".

I sent an email to IA Support about the Mac beta. Whoever got my email is going to send me information about the mac beta. So mac users that are interested I suggest you email them. If you already did then great.

using IEs zoom feature you can get it almost fullscreen!

the parts i liked about this version were the higher quallity textures, lighting effects, explosions, and better physics when colliding with objects. The things i did not like about the new tt is the very fast pace, the recticle, lack of fullscreen support, and most of all dealing with using a browser and slow internet just to make it to the game which is them limited by the browser.

Overall graphics are much better in this version  , if it wasnt browser based i would consider repurchasing that version of tt assuming it is moddable and there is a way to use the old recticle.

OK, this is just the type of thing that turns people off. I go to Instant action.com and the first thin it tells me is I need to use Firefox, I.E. or Safari.

We'll I'm using Safari and yet it won't let me do anything. Idears?

Tried Firefox and got the same thing.

What the?

It seems to think Safari 3 is not Safari, if I remember right..

Personally I prefer Firefox, but would use Safari for specific uses. I'm also hoping support for any browser would be in the future.

But how are you using the beta if it doesn't recognize any Mac browser?

Tried to connect via I.E. in Paelelles and was able to get to the join server game.

Tried creating my own server and joining another. Both times it just sat there spinning the little "loading" Been like 10 minutes so far.

This is truly impressive.

Dunno, Internet Explorer works for me on my Windows XP :tankerhappy1: (Take THAT Mac/Linux!)

On a more serious note... Despite my still holding that completely abandoning the first TT is ridiculous, I'd like to say I now know EXACTLY what GG is going through, Joe. I myself and majoring in Music Industry, and our industry is all sorts of messed up and confused with the old business model growing more and more unstable. The system works great if all that's being sold are CD's and albums... but introduce file-sharing and a differenet public attitude and the system goes out the window. Problem is-- There's no new system to replace it!

GG's getting a lot of the TT community (including myself) very frustrated over all this anticipation, let downs, and conflict of interests... and it's more apparent to me now it isn't because of a poor company (I take back half the bad things I've said) it's because of a poor business model which is in a state of flux.
Personally I think shifting EVERYTHING to being browser-based is a bit of a Hail Mary... and a bad one at that (that's personally, mind you). I'm thinking now that perhaps GG could blend the two designs to compliment each other. Have the InstantAction TT be a gateway to the platform-based TT. Perhaps have the browser be similar to a more advanced DEMO version, with the tanks and maps but minus team play or something, and then say "Well, for $ you can get the full version with mod-abilities, server hosting, league play" which would be on the more the smooter, more tricked out, platform-based TT. If that's no good, then try something else... what I'm stressing here is a compromise between the two so that they can co-exist.

We can't tell you how to do your job Joe, and I'm sorry for my personal and everybody else's "flaming" attitude towards you (intentional or not)... you happen to be the only outlet we've got at the moment. :( What we can do is try to learn from each other, GG and the community, and try to make a better end product for everybody.

Give me a flipping break PTT people.

You are the client, you are perfectly within your right to nice person about a product. Joe is completely out of order by insinuating that you don't have the right to "flame" him and his company.

Joe, you obviously no zilch about business and I'll gladly go toe to toe with you.

Your clients have spoken, your IA product sucks according to them. They are perfectly within their right to degrade a product they see as subpar and have no interest in "It's just a beta." retorts. Explanations do not equal dollars. In fact, the more you have to explain the less effective your product is and will ever be. It's like a joke where you have to explain the punchline. Face it, those jokes aren't funny.

I'm actually embarrassed to have to even type this post.

Is "Thanks Joe," "We don't mean to be insulting Joe," the kind of remarks you want? Get your balls reattached and join the business crowd. They bought your game, they owe you nothing.

Despite all of the disagreements and arguments, I'm so glad that we've totally opened up the lines of communication between us (the clients/players/community) and the owners and makers of the game. My intention was to really find out what there plans were for the future of our game and yes I said OUR game...even though they own it legally and we have all gotten far more than our $20 worth.

I think Rogue makes a valid point about our rights to speak our mind, no matter how harsh it might seem. I think after Joe from GG got slammed with the unexpected avalanche of legitimate criticism he reacted as any of us would. Yes, it would seem like flaming but he didn't understand the depths of our affection for the game and more importantly for our community. We've been neglected (perceived or otherwise) for years so our over-reaction was to be expected.

I knew it would get ugly on both sides for a brief period of time but ultimately I knew if we could get thru the initial shock and awe then we would begin the process of working together to build a better tomorrow for TT online...like it or not...it seems to be its future...on InstantAction.

I am proud of the recent comments from you guys to Joe and your willingness to test TT on IA and provide feedback. Again, as Rogue said, you have the right to speak your mind honestly. They want to know the truth, however negative it will be. OK? That's the only way that they can improve their game.

In the mean time, we can still play our classic TT and test out TT on IA and see where that will go. I think it has HUGE potential.
I also think that it can become even greater than the game we play today because of all the internet connectivity and new technologies involving communications.
