Well hell I give just delete my posts. This is why I like voice chats, you can hear in the voice things that you can't even come close to understanding here.

Obviously a bad idea, was not my intention for this to happen, and was truly a idea, all be it a bad idea I see, but feel free to rail on me some more.

havent read all the way back but i would like to respond to "how it was when i was coming up" point.

when i was first getting involved in this game there were a handful of players that helped me out. they would give me tips on shooting and driving and i got invited to play in tbml before i knew which way was up and which was down. it was good enough just to get two full teams together...regardless of skill level. the only requirement was that you were reliable and showed up.

i remember for a good while there were several players that would even go into a separate server to work with new players on improving. always thought that was cool and kinda felt like a heel that i never did that for anyone. i have to say that bolo has always been an a.ss (one of the many reasons to love him) so to make a sweeping judgement of "how things were" because of a bolo brow beating wouldnt be accurate imo.

i for one would not support a locked dash server. i would in fact avoid it on principle. i think we would be better off being more inclusive.

despite his delivery, im with rogue on this one. in the order of things most important in life this game falls way short. maybe a break is in order....im taking one.

Hey! What's wrong with my delivery? Snicker.

I know I don't have the most delicate way of typing but I think I'm correct in being so blunt, at times. How else do you stop such inane ramblings?

I'm not sure I've ever ragged on somebody for poor play in a pick-up game of TS. Ragging on them for lag...Guilty! I barked at a couple guys in recent months for running off the map but also endured games with a player I remember named Stingray. He was absolutely terrible and I never had so much fun. I kept typing things such as, "We got the Stingray no need to switch." Or, "You killed Steve Irwin." That was a fun night and yes I lost several games in a row, but it was a fun night of slacking.

As you've said GS, we were lucky to have enough to fill a server and we still are lucky. Some here aren't getting that point. Dividing an already small community is a childish thought at best. At worst, it's bored adults. Nothing more, nothing less. If you start taking away the ibot's, the mark's, the Stingray's and whomever you're going to have games of three on three. And then what?

If it's that horrible that many pages are needed to disclose your dissatisfaction you're a putz. There's only one solution, make your own server.

Yes, locked server please. Lets place all the whiners, laggers, voice chatters, arrogant tools in that one. Then the rest of us can play as it was meant to be.

Hahahahaa Rogue now thats hilarious....

Is that not what you brag about doing? So whats that make you? Like my grandpappy always said, let a fool speak long enough and he will choke on his own words.

Continue on with the insults, after all I'm sure no one else has ever had a bad idea here.

I'm not following woot, and I'm certain you're not either. At any rate, I let those you schmucks consider to be lesser players be. Who's the toad?

Soon wlll follow I'm sure will be how I am ripping the community apart. I understand, it's natural to completely ignore those who complain every single day about whom they consider to be lesser players and not good enough to play with them during a leisurely game of pick-up 20 dollar video game Scrum.

Yes, let's ignore that fact and let the brow beating commence. Come on, tell me about how I'm a big jerk because I get annoyed by absurdly enveloped pick-up TS players.

Let's ignore even further that if you really believe in something, such as locked servers, you'd take it upon yourself to achieve this goal and not embarrassingly talk about it on this forum. Let's talk about super crazy fun chat TS servers when we barely have enough for one server as it is. Great ideas guys!

my last thoughts on this sh*t storm.

first of all, new players arent a problem. everyone is new once. in a serious game, where all else is equal, the new guy's team is going to lose. you know what? either content yourself to losing or p'haps swap him on/off to the other team for a spell. solved.

the perennial "new players" are more of a problem in a competitive match. those dummies who still don't get it at game # 506...the dunces that chase the flag every game, doing nothing much else. the ones who can't figure out radar, the team stealers...the dorks who follow you around hoping you'll die so they can pick up the flag. the self-style "runners" who can't find the goal. i hate playing with guys like that. hate it. that's what indy is for. go away.

next: chatterboxes. definitely has it's time and place and can make a stale game fun. i've done it as much as anyone else. but sometimes i'd rather play, especially if it's a well matched game. almost never wanted to hear about what a guy had for dinner. seriously.

to the self-righteous: sticking up for a perennial dumb ___, indy playing tool in game after game only makes you feel better and perpetuates that moron's anti-team behavior. "im ok, your ok?" not always. sometimes you're not ok. go play checkers.

about 90% of the players in late night scrum are effing serious about the way they play. i love playing w/them. or loved it. i occasionally liked playing w/chatterboxes too. some of you want to blame woot and i for turning up the competitiveness. go ahead. we're not the only ones that play hard. there are many, many others...and we're still shootin the breeze and having fun. we get mad when a tool meanders in with his cloddiness, cluelessness, and effs up a perfectly good TS game. btw: none of you posting are clods. i've played w/ you all and love playing with you all. there are only a couple selfish, clueless players. they know who they are. i've told them. but some of you rant here about how the "lesser" players should not be excoriated. funny, but none of you who rant ever even play at night. you don't know what you're talking about. yet you find a way to keep your gums flapping.

some people play this game to relax. and some play this game to exercise their competitiveness. these two things don't always go together well in TS. i'll take a new guy that tries to a "vet" that chases shiney objects all game any day of the week. when i want to relax, i go to indy. or i shoot bots.

real life -- i'd wager that few of you "defenders of bad play" know from experience how adults engage in competitive physical "games" in real life. i'll tell you this, if you join competitive adults in a pick up match, in a sparring match, hell...flag freakin' football or ultimate, you're lame a$$, no team concept, ego-centric behaviors are going to be a problem. you won't be around long. you will not be liked, and it will be obvious. why would this be any different?

and here's the deal. right or wrong, Scrumbag is the place closest to a pick up basket ball game. in general, good players assemble with the hopes of playing a good game. occasionally, a real turd like bolo will excoriate someone for not being good. that is rare. people get excoriated for not playing good team scrum if they are repeat offenders. maybe this offends some of your feelings of egalitarianism. you want everyone to be a winner. perhaps a server can be erected where everyone is. Scrumbag doesn't have a mission statement, but my feeling is that the best players assemble there at least partly because they want a good game.

i could be wrong.

but scrumbag is the only place that i could play without significant lag. psl matches and 3 on 3s were all lag fests for me. in scrumbag i finally got a chance to play w/out blinking across the screen. anyways...

i play too much, spend too much time typing this crap, and the results? many of you think i'm a major hard-a$$ or some kind of ego tripper. not my intention. just wanted a good, intense game. and i got em too. like i said, i really really like playing with you guys. my wife and daughter miss me. i have a new, more demanding job. i'm moving. y'all take care.

wOOt & Stink - I hear a lot of what you are saying, but essentially you want something to suit your own specific wants & as usual there are two sides to each debate. Not everyone is American & plays late night, generally when I play we get to fill a server & get to play so good competitive games without any hostilities. We pretty much play live & let live, have fun & play hard. We have admin like Delt & @ure in scrumbag who deal with everything in a cool way.

It seems that when you play you have some bigger egos. wOOt, the other side to your Skype & inner understanding is that you come accross as rude & abrupt to other players who aren't on Skype with you. I have known you a while & know you have another side, but last night when I typed "wow vn" or "Bravo" or "Very Well Done", you responded not once. You only came out of your shell to lambast someone in an aggressive manner for making a bad move. Kinda Boloesque in my experience, which seems in line with what GS is saying.

Thing is that we don't seem to apply the same rules. As I said last night a player was berrated for a minor bad play, but Tankerbell (admin) could just sit for half a game with teams in-balanced, vets could sort out their Skype for another half a game. I have no problem with this myself, but tou can't have it both ways to suit you.

It seems you want a half way house between pick-up games & leagues. Rogue is right with his numbers & turning one of the 3 main servers into something else doesn't seem to be the way to me. If you want to do this, set the server up & say hey everyone I have this new server wanna play, not have discussions such as that with Sheena, it just isn't necessary. btw Sheena, you would have my vote for a pass.

Stink - I believe you have managed to start a dialogue with ibot & I have seen you have been trying, gj. On the other hand, with the assistance Tankerbell is offering I think all this will be undone.
