Dang, I had forgotten about the Bolo - Mars Mutual Contempt Society. Hard to imagine how a kid from the Midwest and a swineherd could not be Best Friends Forever.

I'm still lurking about. I played a game or two a few weeks ago under an alias since I didn't want to embarrass myself too much, but it seemed like everyone was pretty much a noob, so I did all right. I keep meaning to start on a new heavy skin I came up with a month or two ago while listening to some dark techno, but I can't find the source material that I want to use.

In the meantime, I've been working between my office and home which has been really nice, but after sitting in front of the computer for 8-9 hours at my house for work, I really don't want to stay up there any longer. I've also gotten involved in a couple of church based organizations, so they're taking up a lot of my free time as well. Then there's the new home and all the improvements/maintenance I need to do and of course soccer practice, personal training and so on.

I've also noticed that the political/religious discussions had pretty much disappeared from this site, which was one of the big draws that kept it interesting for me and gave me a reason to keep checking in. As far as the game goes, while I want it to be fun like the old days, certain attitudes keep ruining it and I can't seem to break through to a higher level of game play (of course, one must practice). Then there's all these crazy maps. On the one side, a good idea, but on the other, I don't want to spend hours trying to download the latest map or gamepack just to play for 15 or 30 minutes. Still, I miss those TBML games.

Hopefully I'll find the proper balance in my life that will allow me to come back and spend some more time in those hallowed hills.

BTW - Once during a long forgotten phase when many people were leaving, I stated that I was never say goodbye with some long, weepy farewell message, but that I'd just rattle off into the sunset. Seems like that horizon is closer than ever.

hey rabby, good to see your avatar.

the level of discussion here has really tapered off, it's true. maybe natural causes. i dunno. i'm usually up for a chat. your contributions would likely help. too many like minded liberals in here. i could use your help in setting rogue straight from time to time. his in-yer-face homosexuality is not the issue: the dude's a liberal bully.

and about leaving: this game and this community has a shelf-life. it will end in time. why not ride it out with the rest of us?

homelife? hmmm. priorities man.

hey rabby, good to see you dropping in.

i say do what you need to do. all the things you listed above sound great, its nice to hear life is treating you well. i will request that you not use an alias in game though because i would like the chance to say hello if im lucky enough to be on for the rare occasion you pop in. and keep your eyes peeled for those riveting political/religious threads, im always up for a rant on either topic. we had a few just recently.

i will say, unfortunately, that i wouldnt expect to see the likes of the TBM games we used to have. between the departures of TBM classics such as yourself and the migration of the rest of us to Team Scrum, the TBM games of yore are truly dead. we have been lamenting their demise recently as well.

Everyone sucked when they first played this game. There are some new players that have the same passion for the game as we did when we first started. They will be the sharp shooters in a year or so. There are still some vets that look for a good game of TBM and get it. It's not very often anymore but some of you guys giving up on TBM completely certainly don't help. The more vets in a TBM game the better it is. Abandon anything and it probably will die, rust, deteriorate ...... you get the point.
They bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash.

im there quite a bit and yes there are some upcoming individuals but the concept of Team is lost and i dont see these new players getting it. its an individuals game in a team format.

but i see your point and appreciate your optimism. i just dont have the energy to try and explain how much better the game can be for everyone if a simple thing like replacing a bot when joining a game is followed.

Since this thread is still on the first page and someone mentioned my name, I might as well say that I'm still alive. I check these forums about once a month to see if there's anything new, which sadly, there usually isn't. :E I've just been mad busy, doing work for mods, personal projects, learning to model better with 3DS Max etc... I have a very long way to go.

current half done project
last project
old but better project

It's good to see this game still being played, although just barely hanging on. Garagegames really needs to do something here. If anyone knows of a DTS exporter for 3ds max I could hook you guys up with a drivable tank or something.
