My PMU now has ceased to work completely, which means my computer has no chance of starting up until it's replaced.

As far as I can see, this league is dead. The draft was not carried out properly: names ending up on the list who haven't played in ages (w.t.f.), and players put on teams that knew they wouldn't make most of the games. If TBML is going to continue without the usual organizers, we need a commissioner who is an active and capable member who is willing to take up that responsibility, and captains of the same stature. If you guys can pick this up, good luck, but nothing is coordinated as it is.

Apologies to kj for no team.

^Since you didn't participate in the draft, I'm curious how you can make comments about the draft? From what I see the TBML draft was conducted the in the same manner as the PSL draft. Please provide examples of player names who "haven't played in ages".

The available player list was compiled using the names of people who signed up on the league thread. We just copied the list and forwarded to the new captains. I'm looking at the list now and I see most people in game on a weekly basis.

The part of this that really makes me mad are the people who didn't want to participate in getting the league started, who are now providing armchair advice 6 weeks into league play.

Where are the captains and their concerns? This is the bigger issue.

If we have to scrap, so be it. My team will gladly accept the toaster.

Hey now, I think we're still tied with you for first :tankerwinks:

Anyway, my suggestion is that we eliminate Bolo's team entirely, since they've had dreadful attendance, and put kj (and anyone else who actually shows up on that team) on a team that needs him. Any team that is scheduled to play Bolo's will get an automatic 4 points.

I have no problem with KJ or OX going to Deano's team since he's the first to ask.

collapsing bolo's team makes sense.
Is there any other active players on it other than kj? I dont believe so.

As he has a little league practice that runs past TBML start time I have been yanking him early for him (and me) to make the games.
I explained that to bolo early on,, that he had made that TBML commitment before the baseball season schedule was established. I also asked bolo to let him know if he wasnt needed for any of those weeks so he could attend the full practice if possible.
Oh well, stuff happens.
Kj wants to stay in the league and will join whichever team, confirm here.
Captain please use my email as I am his organizational secretary and chauffeur.

As to the league criticisms.
Rather than beating the dead horse lets look to the future and do it better next time.
It does take some organizational know how and persistence to get a league off the ground and tend to its needs through the course of a season. Not that much, but some.
You really have to have a commish, no way around it. You need someone ultimately responsible , who will make final decisions (or poll the captains and make decisions) and communicate them to captains and players.
Is not necessary to re-invent the wheel each time. This process has taken place many times.
But, as in being a good captain, you need to communicate consistently, keep on top of things, deal with matters quickly.
The reality is that may mean from 3- 5 emails/ptt2 postings a week.. Perhaps more in the very beginning.
It is not all that much time, but when undertaken must be done well.
The pay off is huge for all.

This league is fun.
Though this is my first season actively in it, I have been getting kj to his games since the first season.
Lets not let wrinkles of this season diminish seasons in the future.
These leagues, this site and indeed this game is what we make of it.
Lets finish this season with bolo's team collapsed.
(if the scoring as suggested by Player is fair we go with that)

For the next season lets make it a lot tighter.
First off we will need a commish (or a committee of 2-3) to select maps, chose captains, set draft time, a have a set time to sign up for the league.
I think it is really key to have set times for all these things. To have those time lines posted from the beginning (if there are adjustments post them as they come up) so everyone is in the loop. That keeps it fresh in peoples minds. The body of potential draftee's are current etc.
If it is run seriously, people will take it seriously. If people commit to the league then they know it is a serious commitment to show for games or at least communicate with their captain about any absences.
We can hold people to that standard when the league is run that way from the start.

Stuff always happens that cant be foreseen.
asteroids smash into North America
hamsters nest in Niko's hard drive.
bolo gets a girl friend.
Baba joins a TBML team

Bizarre and curious events such as these can and will happen.
We need to be able to roll with it a bit.
With proper organization in place we can.
