Wow - the fastest posting of screenies in ALL OF TIME! Thanks guys! I will work on the charts after dinner.

I want to hear some analysis of these maps!

We have had two VERY different maps these past 2 weeks. Last week was Persnickety - which was very "vertical" with lots of ridges and bowls. This week was much more flat and "horizontal". How did these two maps compare and how did it effect gameplay? Also - the maps this season seem a tad larger than last season. I seem to have grown more fond of the smaller-sized maps for 4 on 4. Less driving around looking at scenery and more blood-pumping fast-paced action.

Whoever writes the best map/gameplay analysis will get a personalized custom PSLXIV Banner featuring <a statue of you in your favorite tank skin> immortalized in a crystal sphere in the palm of your hand!!

this weeks map seemed like a good 5 vs 5 TBML map.
Large and flat.
Unfortunately as a 4 vs 4 PSL map it was way too large.
we even played 5 vs 5 and I still spend half the game traversing the map from Pluto.
Of course the other team seemed to have 4 players circling the goal everytime I looked so perhaps it was a personal issue.
Yes we were skunked this week ...

I think it was way too large.
Either I was traveling long distance across the map with Jay or t-34 shooting my butt or there were long periods of mindless goal side shoot-outs while the scrum carrier traversed the map.

my 2 cents

Yes open terrain , ideal for gunners, I agree.

Long to traverse map yes and no

All arrows were on fringe and could be taken in a sequence hence covering lots of terrain quickly. I often did this last night big circle like and coming back to goal. But it took practice to get the right alignement on arrows.

2-3 Air goals, 2-3 arrow goals

In my mind the key last night was keeping contol of the scrum, while having a good defense @ goal. Our guys did this , it facilitated our scoring cause the defenders that were left if any left were 1 bullet from death.

That map made it evident that a runner must now be able to defend himself and kill to score!

PS : The GOD's of scrum were humming a lovely tune in my mind : :whistling:

An effort to contrast Delta's remarks on Grosbeak to what could be said about Persnickety:

- openness of terrain: P has virtually no open-field firing range, except from the top of the central hill. For most of the goal locations, by the time you're in sight of a camper's guns, you're able to affect gameplay to a great degree with driving/swiping. Advantage: drivers over gunners.

- map size, "shortcuts" factor: P was nearly traversable with one boost/jump combo, while you had to hit more than one boost in succession to get across Grosbeak quickly (which was only possible along one axis of the map). Delta found this and was able to exploit it, but quickly getting to goal locations off of this axis was better done by diving! Bottom line: Persnickety is an almost gauranteed heart-thumper from the start, while gameplay on Grosbeak started slow but would speed up with familiarity.

- map size, fb-factor: no matter how many arrows you put on a large map the size of Grosbeak, the fb count is going to go up, even with 4v4. 5v5 might help, though.

But the best "sound-bite" point to be made about Grosbeak Grove was Delta's: "That map made it evident that a runner must now be able to defend himself and kill to score!" Great driving skills are a beautiful thing, and more TT-time on Grosbeak would improve anyone's game.

big time shuffle in the league standings. this season may just prove to have more parity than any other PSL before. should make for an exciting finish and playoffs.

Thank you Rx,
just wondering, have you updated the chart above? Because if you did, I must see an eye doctor. Didn't see my name on it :)
