Ping is the measure in milliseconds of how long it takes information to travel from your computer to the server. TT performance can also be compromised by over-utilized or slow hardware.

From what state do you play and in which server do you ping 100?

Not sure if you have tweaked TT, if not do this:

Seems to have mis-appeared
If on a high speed connection....

1

Go to game/client pref.cs
Open with notepad
Change
$pref::Net::PacketRateToClient = "10";
$pref::Net::PacketRateToServer = "16";
$pref::Net::PacketSize = "200";

to this
$pref::Net::PacketRateToClient = "32";
$pref::Net::PacketRateToServer = "32";
$pref::Net::PacketSize = "450";

Save file and delete game/client.cs.dso
to insure changes

2 If on windows

Go to this website and choose from method 1
High Latency if From Euro or beyond
Low Latency if from the States

Those tweaks made a big difference for me...

But < 100 ping is pretty good. I don't always get that kind of ping.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's a combination of distance, network performance, server performance, and your own system's performance. You can work on one part of the equation, maybe two, but there's a lot out of your control.

^What he said.

There is also the theoretical minimum amount of ping according to distance.

Look guys, I suffered with that 100 ping in roos for almost a year with a t-3 line. They boasted a 6 meg download per second, and one day I just got fed up, I kept loosing connection and the lag was unbearable. At this point after many sessions with the same cenario I called Time Warner an gave them a location where they could stick their t-3 line.

I then went to the internet an started looking for a better provider , when I stumbled on Att Yahoo DSL, my ping went from over a 100 in roos, to under 50, so umm yeah it was worth the 3 days offline to have what I have now:)

Blinde Cide I live in Montana. But my Company is located in a high rise (Montana 2 Story Outhouse: joking) large building on top of a main network Hub. I get a 10 meg up down rock solid. OK so my Dual 2.5 G5 Mac is whale oil powered, But its got a great graphics card. Its got to be a distance thing. And I know I shouldn't wine about a ping of 100. But when theres some punk ass nice person running around with no skills and 50 or a 40 ping. Drives my dick in the dirt!
Thanks thou for the tips guys.[/b]

Also I was thinkin about thrown up the Liqrs Lounge server again to take some load off Dash, but if the distance thing is going to make it slow whats the point!

yeh.. You shouldn't be disappointed with 100 ping. If you do the tweaks, you'll probably be bumped under 80, and that's the 'sweet spot' of gaming. Shouldn't notice much difference from there down.

Ahhhhhhh, how I dream of a ping of 100 or less.

Just out of interest, what do you low pingers score on Quick Play? Just out of curiosity, to compare to my score, pings aside n all that. If you haven't played it for a while (I only ever have when servers down), just play 3 games, thats enough.
Talking poppycock for as long as I remember...
