Yeah I'm pretty sure i did, I linked to the website from the included CD and downloaded the latest
The boys say that Tony Hawk and some of their (silly) online games play faster and with better graphics.
But why is TT worse?
Cant think of any other settings within TT that I could change.
Dont think TT makes use of dual processors, so I would have thought the upgrade would be very noticeable.
Any other ideas oh knowledgeable ones?

@ Baba - Just food for thought
When I got my new machine and installed TT all was fine
Until I updated my TT for all the artwork etc
I inadvertantly overwrote my client/pref.cs with the old machine prefs.cs
And the game was not the same - jerky graphics etc
On further investigation I realized the client prefs include all the video instructions
ie - type of card - interface - accelerator info - etc
I actually had to reinstall TT to repair the problem
This time however I was more careful with the updates
Hope this helps

Good points roo, I have added mod packs and maps packs. I have put in skins and 2X radar and enlarged the radar dots (with lines added to end of main.cs file) not sure that I have touched the client/pref.cs - not by intent at least.
I just opened the client/pref.cs and see:
$pref::Video::allowOpenGL = 1;
$pref::Video::appliedPref = "1";
$pref::Video::clipHigh = 0;
$pref::Video::deleteContext = 1;
$pref::Video::detailLevel = "1";
$pref::Video::disableVerticalSync = 1;
$pref::Video::displayDevice = "OpenGL";
$pref::Video::fullScreen = "1";
$pref::Video::monitorNum = 0;
$pref::Video::only16 = 0;
$pref::Video::preferOpenGL = 1;
$pref::Video::profiledRenderer = "ATI Radeon 9200 OpenGL Engine";
$pref::Video::profiledVendor = "ATI Technologies Inc.";
$pref::Video::profileVersion = "4";
$pref::Video::resolution = "800 600 32";
$pref::Video::SafeModeOn = 1;
$pref::Video::shellResolution = "800 600 32";
$pref::Video::simResolution = "800 600 32";
$pref::Video::windowedRes = "800 600";
$pref::visibleDistanceMod = "1";
So Nuts does that mean OpenGL is turned on? Not sure where that happens is it in the video card pref's?
I ended up purchasing a new TT because of a recent computer mishap ( I tried to run some comp maintenance software -TechTool- that was incompatible or corrupted, and it messed up my computer(s) in various ways - TT would crash after opening to first screen)
I just bought a new TT from GG so I assume it is the most recent. The machine in question is not a Intel Mac of course.
The TT app on my jittery comp (a G4 Mac) is essentially a copy of that on my G5 which has no performance problems since reloading the application.
any other clues?

A quick software test
Baba, you can treat the G5 as an external firewire drive selecting that option in the startup disk preference. Then hook it to your G4 via firewire and select the G5 as your startup disk for your G4. If TT acts normally after you boot the G4, you will know there is something wrong with the copy on your G4.

I would be very surprised if openGL was not enabled. From what you are describing it sounds like a graphics card issue. If the computer is fine running other 3d games like Tony Hawk, that looks like it requires DirectX, not openGL.. That leads me to believe it may be because openGL is not enabled. You should have some info about the graphics card showing what is enabled or not.If thats not it I would take a hammer to it and blame the kids.... ha or listen to one of these mac people.
