ugh just got home. I was tied up in a review all day. I was hoping all would run smoothly, but NOOOO!

So, I think we should start the season FOR REAL next week. I will re-do the schedule.

1- Are the settings the same as PSLXI, or is this new coding?
2- Waoa! We're the Leeroys, boss! Update the Chart whenever you have free time re. team name
3- What is DT? Dumb Tankette? Diving Tanker? Doom's Tutu?
4- Oh my! Ge0rge's team sabotaging the game... But the LEEROYS cannot be avoided!

Hosting

Post by prey »

<rant>
What are this seasons requirements for hosting? Previous seasons we had a home and away map, which is now gone. Further the home and away were hosted by the home team, which went away last season with maps being same for all and only hosted from BC servers.

If we go back to home and away hosting, we can have better opportunity to provide servers. It also takes care of lag issues, in that if a hoster is West Coast based and you are playing a team of Easties. When they host the next time, they will have the lag advantage.

Now if we go back to the rule of the hoster can not play, then you can get seasons without PREY playing much as I generally hosted. It forces one player who does host, to never play home games. Something I found to not be fair.

I do think that the home and away hosting to be fair. I also did not mind that Rx took on god like powers when he hosted. He is but one tank. This week, I was not setup to host the new maps. I thought it was set.

If league hosting becomes an issue, problems should be addressed before the games are to be played. Not the hours of the day of the game.

I also do not get great speed to BC servers as they are far from me, but I like the many Westies don't talk about the East Coast advantage for these Servers. In my team this year, we are spread everywhere. Think I and Memphis could be considered West. I am favorable to Home team Host games, though I don't get a captain vote. I don't recall it being discussed in the upcoming season threads.

I am unhappy that GG does not provide servers for general users, or a web site now. Further the master server is not redundant. This server obviously tests user registery, else it would be hosted by general public now. I consided dropping away like the 10 other non-returning League players, because of the unstability and my own loss of interest in playing as a lite over and over again with nothing new changing. I am mixing my own amusement by playing as a medium in all open games. I got into the league this season not by saying I wanted to play, but by joking about getting brain teeshirts for entering the league.

I have some investment in time mentoring new players and fostering new blood to participate, hosting, captaining ...
I'd like to keep the community going. I've also not had fun the last two seasons. Even though I was part of a championship team.
... Ranting here ....

@HB: TT settings are the exact same as last season - no need to change anything if you've done it already.

@Prey: Let's hear from BC. Oh, one correction: my god-like powers now extend to all servers!

Prey sez: ''I've also not had fun the last two seasons.''

That's why we've been telling you to use the arrow keys to move around the map. That's not cutting it to just hope to spawn in-goal, and to camp there hoping for the best. 8)

Hey Baba, my TT app crashes everytime I boot it for the first time. Then the second booting of the TT app seems to work fine. I have no idea why, but it does what it does. I'm runnning OS X as well.

^^^^

You should have been on the team BC and I were on last season.

Talk about no fun. I think we won 1 or 2 games the whole season.

BC taken out by a falling limb.

Post by Blind Cide »

The power went out on Wednesday just as I was logging on to change the map at MI. We had an ice storm a few weeks ago and the weather has just warmed up enough that the do-it-yourselfers are trying to trim their own trees.

I'm going to see if I can write an Applescript to launch the servers automagically. I also bought a power inverter for my car and a UPC to plug into it so that should keep the IA server/modem/router online during power outages. I'm assuming the cable internet would stay on. With NUTS! as a third location those measures ought to ensure at least two servers.
