Or perhaps predestination does not apply to everything you do, but to specific events. Predestination does not mean that you sit in the middle of the highway expecting to get to where you are going.

My point being that even if you are predestined to meet someone, there has to be movement on your part. Also, not everything you do is predestined. Were you predestined to read this message? Probably not. Think of a roller coaster. If you shut off the electricity, even if it is predestined to go, it won't go. But you can still do other things while you are on the roller coaster.
BTW, I do not believe in predestination, but that's what I have come up with in my experiences with those who do, so you can take it with grain of salt.
