Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
This is weird... ydde, I could only see the last 4 or 5 posts in this thread, so I clicked the green title at the top "IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs..."
Then I could see the whole thing. That's weird.
Try the "go to page" links on the bottom right if you don't see the first page. Go to page 1

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
DELETE THE PREFS.CS.DSO!
Alternately, you can just download the prefs.cs for your OS below and replace your old prefs.cs with the following: (This will set the master and packet rates)
Windows: http://www.mediafire.com/?jgr1y0oqy8e4cbj
If below Vista/7 : Place in game/client, and delete the prefs.cs.dso
If on Vista/7 : Navigate to game/client, then click compatibility files (if there is) and place it there, then delete the prefs.cs.dso. Refer to the image below for the compatibility files button.
Mac: http://www.mediafire.com/?k1midieii1thh
Right click TT application , select show package contents.
Navigate to Contents/Resources/game/client, and place the file here. Then delete the prefs.cs.dso
THIS WAY IF MY MASTERS IP CHANGES, YOU WONT HAVE TO CHANGE ANYTHING. IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY POINT TO THE NEW IP. THIS WILL MAKE THINGS MUCH EASIER FOR ME (AND YOURSELF).

Hi Phobik,
How about a Linux option. I had to reinstall my TT Linux (and of course don't have the correct master server) but when I add the pref.cs file (there wasn't one there initially) it has no effect. I don't recall how i changed it the first time it was installed, so your help (or anyone else's) would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Max

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
Hi,
The prefs are located in a hidden folder and you have to move them to game/client in the main TT folder.
In your home folder, click view, and then enable show hidden files. Then, find a folder ".bravetree", open it up and go to /ThinkTanks/game/client. If there is a prefs.cs.dso, delete it and move the prefs.cs to the real TT folder/game/client. Then, open it and make the changes I posted.
If you have any other question let me know.

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
Hi Pho,
I placed the prefs.cs in the game/client folder as instructed (there was no dso file and also no prefs.cs in there either for that matter) but still no servers are found.
Any ideas????
This is how the servers are listed in prefs.cs:
$pref::Interior::lockArrays = 1;
$pref::isDemo = "1";
$pref::Master0 = "2:master.garagegames.com:28002";
$pref::Master1 = "2:phobiks.dyndns.org:28001";
$Pref::Net::LagThreshold = "400";
$pref::Net::PacketRateToClient = "32";
$pref::Net::PacketRateToServer = "32";
$pref::Net::PacketSize = "450";
Thanks in advance,
Max

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
Pho, Cloud, Anyone,
Still can't get on the server with my linux os.
Anyone that knows the linux TT version well that can give me some help here would be appreciated.
I have added the prefs.cs with the changes and still get "no server found."
I'm at a loss at the moment on what to try to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Max

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
LGM,
I had to reinstall TT Linux and am having trouble switching the server again.
(Like last time) But I don't remember what I did to fix it. Just for fun, if you have a clean copy of the main.cs (I've already added some edits to mine) can you send it to me or let me know where I can download it? I want to see if an unedited one works with the updated prefs.
Thanks in advance,
Max

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
Hey RM,
I have a client prefs.cs original from a Mac. I don't know if they are the same between Mac and Linux. I'll e-mail it to you.
I also have a Linux download I'll e-mail. You should be able to expand it and get the file out of the that copy of the game. I'm not a Linux user, so I don't get how that system works.
Good luck!

Re: IMPORTANT: Please edit your prefs....
Hi LGM,
Not just the prefs though.
I want to test and unedited version of the main.cs too (without having to reinstall another TT if possible.)
So if you have a clean copy of the main.cs (Linux version of course) can you send that too please.
I'll keep an eye out. (RustyMaxwell@verizon.net)
Thanks,
Max
