well since our non supportive game creators are now goners what does should our highly tenacious community do now?
my only idea is to possibly think about following suit with what The MBG community(marble blast gold) did and Revamp TT or re-start it( if TT2 was ever going to happen). MBG did this by creating Marble blast ultra which made people still buy the original game to access the new game via the initiation key although we may have to think up something different. We have great Modders, Scripters and skinners in our community. I firmly Believe that we are more than capable of achieve this. If we managed to get through the death of GG we should now grab the opportunity and start over.
Any other ideas boys and gals? TT was one of my first video games and still is da beans and deserves to be more widely known

Re: What Next For TT
Not much "re-vamping" to do without the source code. The reason why the MBG community were able to re-make different versions was because they had somewhat of a "source code," meaning that they had the server and client sides .cs's. I still have these scripts, but almost all of the server side scripts would be useless since they relate to MBG's gameplay. On the other hand, I fooled around one day with one of the client side scripts and it almost worked perfectly with TT, it just needed a bit of tweaking. This could mean that most of the client side scripts from MBG could work with TT, which could possibly implement voice chat and ban time (mins and days). MBG's client and server side scripts were included in the original download of the game, so I don't see a problem with them being put to good use.

Re: What Next For TT
The thing that caught my eye was that they said they "no longer own" the IP (intellectual property) rights to ThinkTanks. I came by to see if anyone here knows who has them now (apparently IAC has the rights to MarbleBlast, for what it's worth), and then I saw this:

And the same guy, about the ignition server:
That's what I got from that thread.

They know we're still here, at least. I'm not exactly sure if they have anything in mind for us, but at least they haven't forgotten.@Manoel
We are looking at options for the TT community and will keep you updated. I believe we have spoken before.
And the same guy, about the ignition server:
So basically, since (from what I've seen) there are mirrors for downloading the game, if you can get it, your key will work.Quote:That's a bit of a gray area, but I don't think there will be any issues with us continuing the hosting of the DRM.
That's what I got from that thread.
Never really gone, never really part of the game.

Hopefully what remains of GG will do something with TT since i think they relise how popular these games are the amount of people who get involved in the MoM and tribal trouble communities are testimony to what could be achived. At the very least i hope a source code but thats all i can think of then doing atm

GG's still around. They're still selling Torque, and they say they're just moving everything to a new building. That'll take a while, but they're still working. They just changed ownership.
Never really gone, never really part of the game.

I played a game... last week... no was it two weeks ago? Dang it the last time I played was when I was in Wisconsin.... a month ago.
Jeez.. When does PSL fire up so I can set aside 1/2 hour a week to play a game or two? Without an active league, pickup team scrum games are a thing of the past I believe.

Re: What Next For TT
i am checking nightly for a scrum game now after a few months of inactivity.
its rare to find a scrum game but a tbm game is usually there as consolation.
going on now to check for another game...

Re: What Next For TT
Had a full server in KeepAway tonight for a few games, and then we migrated to Roos for some TS.
Great fun... I stayed for two nailbiters- a tie and a 1 pt win. Good bunch of players in there, too.
Like we say, if you want this game to play on, you gotta play.
