Master TMO - Is he Myth or Reality?

I read the GarageGames announcement the other day, so I thought I'd swing on back by here and see how things shake out.

I now work at a university, and one of the benefits is some free classes, but I have to be declared for a degree. I thought about using that old AI Evolution project as the project/thesis for my Master's in Comp Sci. That's what prompted me to start looking around to see if TT even existed any more. ;)

If it goes away, I may need to change it all to a newer game. Assuming the profs like it as a thesis project anyways. Technically I'm not even enrolled yet. ;)

But the next few months are going to be interesting.

Oh, one question for y'all: Did they ever produce a new version of TT? Or is my old version still good? The screenshots of the game on the downloader site have Tan and Green teams instead of Red and Blue. And the maps look different too.

same old game. nothing has changed. There was an attempt by InstantAction (Torque) to make thinktanks a browserbased game but it failed miserably.

Good to know, good to know. A friend of mine is also interested in trying to build his own evolution scheme, and one of the things we might try to add is the ability to test AIs in games vs live players. He's more hardware-oriented than I am, and he thinks he's got a computer that can host a few games. He doesn't know the game at all, so we'd have to test the performance to make sure it would work. But it's something we're considering, and even if it doesn't work for live play, it should work fine for running multiple games simultaneously for AIs, speeding up the process considerably.

LOL. Just installed TT on my new computer and couldn't even make it through the solo games.

On the plus side, I scored a 30 on Quick Play. Not great, but not horrible. Perhaps a few dusty remnants of some skill still reside in this body. But I'm not going to bet on myself to win any games any time soon. ;)

Good to hear from ya again. Look around for my KeepAway server. Got some tough bots in there and CASA DE LAG has some baddies too.

I'd love to try out some of your better evolved bots.

Anyway, dust off the treads and jump in. You should probably install Dazzle's Mod pack so you have most of the maps. (not all, but most)

Heh. I've played a bit the last day or two. I don't have a lot of time to devote, but I imagine I'm back again as an occasional player. I'm back on cable instead of satellite (although it is a slower speed than the cable I had before I moved), but I was still lagging a bit this evening when I played.

I have determined that my aim stinks. ;) 3 years without playing will do that to you.
