SURPRISE!!!!!!
For some odd reason they never did figure out how to truly market any of their product. They did have some decent products but they were never truly good enough as a stand alone PC/Mac game. Without the modding of TT the game would have died after only 2-3 years. It's a great game but it just isn't good enough for mainstream. It's fading away now after a very healthy almost 8 years.
Now the games that they developed for IA might have been a hit in the smartphone market. The whole browser concept was dead in the water when they started as multiple people warned them.
BTW GG has been dead for quite some time as well.

Re: The Future of TT from GG!
Heh, I was just on IA's website Tuesday for the first time in years.
I wonder if we can get the master server URL? Or the TT source code?
Well, I guess it would be fitting to hold the next (last?) PSL on stock maps.

Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

Wonder if GG would accept offers for the source of TT and throw in the domain for the master server.

Re: The Future of TT from GG!
I was an IA player for 2yrs before coming here.I enjoyed it and at the time thought IA was better(little did i know)heh, but after being here on the original for just under 1 year(give or take) i see that the only advantage the IA version had was graphics. If IA was to ever get there ThinkTanks going again i would play both IA and original.ThinkTanks is ThinkTanks it needs support no matter where its being run from or by.I enjoy this game and the community.
Well thats my 2 penny's for now.

I wish they would have consulted us more about how to move this game forward. We have been a tremendous resource that they have completely ignored.

Popped on here for the first time in ages, only to see this? Does this mean TT itself is going to disappear as in master server and all?

You're welcome, TrouserChili... good to see you post again.
I think we've got to be prepared for the master server to go down. My understanding is that it shouldn't be a big deal to create our own, but it will need to be taken care of.
We'd have to set one up, then modify this line of code in game/client/prefs.cs...
Change that address to another, and we're good to go. Of course we'd have to post that address and help people set it right, but that's not too bad.
Somebody talked about trying to set up a master server. Anyone want to set one up and test it out?

Hmm... so that's what was wrong. It was very odd that InstantAction was a long time down... I believe it might even been a year.
I wonder if ThinkTanks would be given as open source... and of course free. I don't think I have ever played Legions but apperently it has been given permission from InstantAction to continue as free and open project. Check out below.
