If you haven't already done so, upgrade your game by downloading Dazzle's all-in-one upgrade pack. It comes with everything you need for today's servers. Does your blue bar freeze when joining servers? Do you lag in games? Do you get an annoying siren in Phobik's Servers? This is what you need. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD.
Welcome to Planetthinktanks2! I have not seen you around. Do you go by the name, Blazeryo, on Thinktanks?
This game came out in 2003, and there are many players that still play since the game came out. We have leagues in Team Scrum, Team Battlemode, and sometimes team CTF (capture the flag). We also have armies that people join and sometimes they have wars or scrimmages. The community is still strong, even after 6 years, so I hope you enjoy playing here!
You may want to aslo download the dazzlepack here in the "Think Tanks Upgrade "FREE" forum becuase there are many modded maps that TT'ers play on.
I also have not met you in game ^(that explains it), but am glad you're here. What goes on around here? I'm not sure how to answer that one. Lots of stuff... the game, some good humor, a little bickering, some political stuff...
The members here are a pretty good bunch, and we talk about all kinds of things. As for the game, just some basics...
• Don't camp in the goal in Indy scrum games... very poorly received
• Shoot the one with the ball in Indy scrum. Shoot the other teams in team scrum
• If you're playing battlemode, use caution. There's some really good shooters out there. Use cover.
Have fun, and post questions. Lots of good help here.
A word of warning, online is very intense, its what will get ya hooked. So be ready to replace your keyboard/mouse if ya don't have something else to vent on...lol
The servers in TT are limited to 8-12 players for the most part. Probably the most used are "Snows Resort" indy scrum and the Team Scrum / Team Battlemode server (TS and TBM for short). As you go online, check the list.
I run the "Greenhouse" servers. Right now I have them running KeepAway, a gametype developed by CannedSplam a while back. I get lots of players in the indy version, not so many in the team one. You get a point each second for carrying the ball, and 25 for a goal.
The most involved servers are probably Dazzles... he has some complex mods like Capture the Flag, and Rollerball. The online games make the solo in TT look like kindergarten games... they can get very intense.
I posted in those forums and made a thread in the modding forum too!
Hey LGM, I'll check out your servers sometime too!
Sounds like alot of fun.
I have a couple of questions;
1. If the game is closed-script (locked DSOs only, no .CS scripts) How are mods possible? You need the original .cs raw scripts to to inculde and compile any custom scripts into the game.
2. Why is there so many site admins? Who is the owner of the site?
3. At the top of the page, there is a donate button, but it says "Dontate" what's that mean?
Mods... not my expertise, but with ModWizard and scripting, much is possible. In a few cases, GarageGames released portions of the source code to some individuals a while back. There are lots of things that can be done through modifying some of the .cs files.
Many people build their own .ter files using the TorqueGame engine demo, then place objects in it via ModWizard. There's a number of good modders around. I was thinking you'd be interested if you like modding MarbleBlast.
So many admins... probably because we want to keep it a nice place, but nobody has too much time. Many have been admin/moderators for years. They just stay that way for the most part, even if we don't see them too much anymore.
drsawbones runs this place for us. It's registered to doc, and donations are accepted. The "dontate" button is likely a typo or something. doc's just trying to offset hosting costs.
