thanks bc. did it, but don't really know what i'm looking at. seems like i make 18 connections to get to your server. some have clues as to where they are. perplexing to me is why my signal travels down to california before ( i guess) heading east. that adds in about 500 extra miles or so.

that why i'm such a laggy custard?

is this a feature of cable? does cable just suck?

I'm in the suburbs of Chicago and I'll typically have a pretty low ping to BC's or Dash's servers.

Initially when entering the serve, I was somwhere in the upper 40"s, but peaked at 480 when the game got jittery.

I didn't think about trying to diagnose it.

League Servers:
Keep in mind, you really may want to try and get separate machines and limit 1 game to one server.

Phobik can host, and I also have two separate machines in which I could host a game that others would play in. I would not host a game for which I play in myself. Even though I suck at shooting, I don't feel one should play in a game in their own server.

Games in Phobik's server were pretty good. Game one started out 8-0 or 8-1. I was thinking were were going to get crushed. Would have been nice if memphis showed, then Lep could have joined in. There were may times it took quite a while to get a point. People getting busy getting dead. We came back and made it a game late. Ended 8-6 I believe. Don't recall game two, I think we lost by more but seemed to be a more even game than game one.

as much as i'd like to smack, i can't change providers. comcast is currently the only option in my neighborhood. verizon isnt here yet, and apparently qwest isn't either.

Given the widespread lag everyone felt in our server, I think it makes sense to have Nappy & Phobrik at the ready with servers.

I am willing to listen to all arguments for and against; at the end of the day Rx is the commish. However, I think we can all agree above 300 ping is neither playable nor fun.

just keep this in mind: the further east the serves are located, the crappier it gets for those of us in the west. i really would be more equitable to rotate through three servers located in three spots west central east. one consideration is Doc's server in AZ. most people report a great response in the server.

bc'c banlist server always seems to work for me on the w coast. if we do go with three different servers, i vote keep banlist for PSL. personally, i hope we can work it out to play on bc's servers...

Agreed. BC is ideal. I personally am fine with a server in each part of the country as well - all we got here in "corn country" is red states and high speed internet

The MI: Banlist server was from dash's data center where there are many redundant connections to the internet. My IA: servers are from my home cable connection, and might not be as "robust" in their paths to everybody. So redundancy is probably a necessity this season.
