Baba,

I haven't had that problem with TT, but have with some education software at work.

I managed to get it working by changing the permissions on the application. Try this if you want...

Find TT, then click on the icon. Hit command-I (get info)
Or, if you wish, right click on the icon (or control-click) and pull down to "Get info"

Then, go down the list that pops up to where it says "Ownership and permissions" Click the triangles that are at the menus to show more details. You'll need an admin account pass to authenticate.

Make your permissions be "read and write", close the windows, then restart TT and see if that helps. DEEJ, if you are on a mac, and have already installed the goods, try that too. I don't know if that is the problem or not, but it really won't hurt...

@ Roo
With the game time set at 90 seconds you'll never get in without the goods
This won't be a problem because the clock does not start until someone spawns on the map.

Some in server #1 had intermittantly high pings up to 300s. Because it was only some players, it might have been a big internet pipe coming out of Chicago. This is the same equipment I used in the previous PSL season when there weren't problems.

My IP address is 12.216.3.86 if anyone wants to do a traceroute to see if that reveals the problem. I'll put up several servers, and if you are in one and start getting high ping, do a traceroute at that time.

To do a traceroute in Linux or Mac OS X, open the terminal and type this command : traceroute 12.216.3.86

To do a traceroute in Windows, Open a DOS window and enter the command: tracert 12.216.3.86

Normally, the last part of the path (from Chicago to me) will add 12-20 ms. If you get a traceroute with high numbers, save it with cut and paste into a text document, or take a screenie so I can examine it to see where the problem is.

^ We had similar reports in my game from several but not all players. Also fishy reports a similar thing in his game...

We had a wicked fast game! A lot of freebies on that map tho.

We had some severe lag - most were pinging above 300. As a temporary solution, we went to Phob's and played some 5v5. I believe everyone was satisfied with Phobrik's server performance.

Hehe, you're going to hate me for this, but I can't resist. Using the Finder, select Find from the file menu. Then type "terminal" in the window that popped up.

I was going to be a smartass and suggest using the help menu of the Finder, but doing so points out that there is an application called "Network Utility" that has a traceroute function. Apple really does make it easy.

The Network Utility, as well as the Terminal application, are in Applications/Utility folder.
