Finals Video

Post by Blind Cide »

Heh, the withholding of the Razor v DFP video is all part of our carefully calculated plan to ... oops never mind.

If I'm not playing I'll be recording from the observers position. If any Mac users want to jsave the game, Rx or I might be able to use it.

Instructions for jsaving on a Mac:

Code: Select all

Open the terminal (applications/utilities).
Type "cd" and then press the space bar once.
Now drag the folder that contains your ThinkTanks application into the terminal window and press enter.
Cut and paste the following line into the terminal:
./ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX -jsave filename.txt
Your TT application should launch when you now press enter.
After you're done recording, Email a copy of the recorded game (contents/resources/filename.txt) to me.

Cut and paste the following into the terminal to display the recorded game:
./ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX -jplay filename.txt
Your TT application should launch and display the recorded game (filename.txt)
When you're done watching the recorded game use command-option-escape to quit.

Of course you'll want to change the filename to something meaningful and different, otherwise it will overwrite the old file without warning you. I keep the attached jsave.txt file handy to edit and then cut and paste the lines into the terminal. After you have used the enter key on a line of terminal code you can just use the up/down arrows to get it back again. That will save you time when you first experiment with the jsave/jplay function.

Booo.

Map was huge. Anti-climactic way to end the season for us with that first game. Sometimes the scrum just doesn't bounce your way. Son of a...

Game One was a demoralizing one sided affair. The video will tell all. Bolo will say it was them "gelling" and we'll say it was luck of the drops. Pssst, the latter is true. Give it a watch when available. We had no chance.

Game Two started out with another Bolo FB five seconds in and things looked bad for the DFP. However, we managed a 4 to 4 tie in a game mainly dominated by the DFP. We were mutilating them. Bolo had to change keyboards because of a broken spacebar and Donkey Army had to change his undies. It was beautiful. We were creaming them all over the map and then an unfortunate spawn happens and we tie. I hate Scrum.

Congrats Razors. Those are the breaks in the hard hitting world of out of shape middle-aged guy scrum. I still hate every single one of you though.

In all seriousness, good season. I had fun.

On another map the DFP wins 9 out 10.

MEET THE CHAMPS!!

Screenies coming hopefully. I think game 1 was 11-1 Razors, game 2 was a 4-4 tie. CONGRATS RAZORS!

I agree the map was big. It made for a game of ball control. If one team camped, then the other team could get possession of the scrum far away from the goal. To me this was a game of strategic battlemoding, where the goal is field position and opponent health management. Very strategic and methodical play. No jaw dropping spectacular "WOW" moments. It was like: get posession of the scrum, group together as a team, and work the scrum slowly across the map by killing like crazy. This map is smaller than most of the old MonkeeMan and dash scrum maps. Nevertheless I think the smaller maps are most fun. GG's DFP!! Thanks for the games. Thanks also to BC for hosting all season long! You da man!

I captured the game using jsave. Who else recorded it? I think NUTS and BC did. That could mean 3 different perspectives. There was no observer, so this season the movie will be from the tank perspective of a particular player.

I still cant believe we came back from the bottom of the barrel! I may have to look into this linux thing, lol.

Don't worry RX, you guys are still "bottom of the barrel" in my eyes.

Was a fun season. The maps are greatly improving and I think that's pretty much solved for the most part. I don't recall any games suffering the horrible lag we once had in prior seasons.

Thanks to RX, Roo and Nuts for taking the time to keep this up and running.

Do something wrong next season so I can complain more please.

It's all I have.

Time to get to know the wife and kids again and get my knee scoped before the Fall season. I was playing on a bum wheel. That's why we lost. Yah, that's it. That's the ticket. I was drugged. An alien fondled me. Yah, that's...

In Retrospect

Shall I share my thoughts.....
First off I am ingraciated to contribute to this fine sport - this community - and the PSL

Second I have watched this game - the maps and the style of gameplay evolve thru
the years. For instance my style was once described as too small and everyone loved the large 30 x 30 maps
These large maps required diving in hopes of a better spawn rather than driving 30 seconds to the action
In additon the Flag spawn script was written to centralize the game and compensate for huge acreage.
As the players evolved so did the tools that we use...
To accomodate the masses in I created a hybrid map just for PSL
Not my usual 12 x 12 get 8 players bloodbath but a 18 x18 format - middle of the road
combo map that has played fairly well in seasons 11 and 12

Third I am in no way disappointed by my efforts
I have already given the "Powers That Be" a full set of maps to choose from for PSL XIII
and am in the process of completing a full 16 for season XIV
But the map committee is under no obligation to use all or any they deem unfavorable

The bottom line is I am happy to help out...Win - Lose or Draw
Thank you for choosing "RooMaps"
We hope you call again........

Roo, the map last night would have been a very good 5 on 5 map. We couldn't muster a 10th player though.

Back in the day on the huge Monkee maps we always had 10 people playing. Those extra two tanks really do make a difference, just as they're a hindrance on a small map. Maybe an extra arrow or two would have provided more action or prevented many free goals so the team without the scrum could get back in the action faster.

You did well with the maps. I gave a fivehead out of five on almost every single one, not that my opinion means squat. In fact, I think most everyone did.

Also forgot to thank BC for hosting. Those servers seem to be a suitable option for everyone.

P.S. I think that the championship game should be five on five if possible so only two would have to sit for this all-important game. In the future maybe we should include a note on the schedule indicating great opportunities for either 4 on 4 or 5 on 5.

Just some random thoughts.

Razored

At least Rogue lost. I wish ACA would have lost too. I'm sure the TT community can script something where the 2 teams can lost.

11-1? Wow. Yeah that's a blow for the moral. But yeah, Bolo's FBs skills are either 1) impressive or 2) suspicious.

Fun season! Thanks to Rx, Roozomatic, the hosters, and the hosers!

We won you sheep bastid.

I think this experience has finally exorcised the trauma I experienced from the 'Sheep back in PSL 3 or 4 on the Spooky map. No more will i be hounded by black sheep phantasms in the night!!

Woooot Baaa!
Razors victorious.
What a great birthday present for Baba.

A victory in great part due to the re-invigorated, re-formulated Black Sheep subset.
