To add to Tankberbell's question - will we have to have logged on to TT to give it time to find the new server DNS location? Will that take time? I just want to make sure that people just logging on at 10pm game time don't end up taking forever to find the servers.

According to Nathans Post on the Garagegames forums you can add these two lines into your game/client/prefs.cs file

Code: Select all

$pref::Master[0] = "2:master.garagegames.com:28002";
$pref::Master[1] = "2:74.63.12.22:28002";
For the people that dont know where to add it, here is what you do. Take this line of code:

Code: Select all

$pref::Master[1] = "2:74.63.12.22:28002";
and paste it to the bottom of your game/client/prefs.cs file. Save it, and delete the .dso file. So now, when you run your game, and you click on online, your game will search both the old GG master server, and the soon to be new one.

Hope this clears up some of ^ questions about taking forever to find the servers

^^^
Is this for hosters only?
Is it necessary for hosters?
How about for regular players?
That is what do those lines of code do ?

thx

Game 1 was a tie
Game 2,
1 minute to go and they stall
Tried finding it in rules
but funny the
Stall Rule
from a few season back
is no longer in rules

brb looking for it

Update :
Went back
as far as
PSL Season X
found nothing about it

I do remember
this issue coming up
in a past League

If I remember correctly
Stalling was not allowed
unless it was under 30 seconds !

Either way Great Games :|

There has never been an official rule about stalling. Blatant stalling is recognized by all as poor sportsmanship. But it is too hard to legislate. It gets a little gray when you try to distinguish stalling from a well executed ball-control offense. This came up around PSL6 or 7, when The Professor introduced the technique and caused a big debate. As I recall the prevailing wisdom that prevented us from formalizing a rule was that in the extreme, stalling is an anti-camping strategy. I think the best solution to this problem is to choose map sizes that are perfectly matched to 4 on 4 (i.e. not too big). Like maps that are ~18 sec X 22 sec big or thereabouts.

yeah, stalling was debated ad nauseum with no real consensus other than its a weak tactic. ball control is different. the issue came up again last season with the gratuitous use of arrows to zip around the map with no visable attempt to advance the scrum.

the bottom line is stalling can be beat if you send a player or two out to challenge the scrum. i dont know specifically what happened in the game but there has rarely been a stalling situation that ive seen that couldnt be countered. its not easy, but this is psychoscrum after all.

a greater concern to me is the collapse of the Membrains. i'd like to get to the bottom of why it happened because it is not fair to the players on that team that showed up each week or the opposing team that showed and expected to have a good game of scrum. we are all busy and its a sacrifice to our personal lives to commit each week to play this game. after 15 seasons this shouldnt be happening.

other than that, ggs to the Clonus this week. classic scrum. unfortunate to have a few lag glitches but some things are beyond our control.
