most of all my own. ^ i need you to admire me.
yes, clearly a bunch of hetero men calling each other "fa.g" when one of them scores is absurd. the absurdity is the humor to me. i understand that some folks don't like it. i have personally noted whom, and i refrain when they are around out of respect (the spector of a dead gay man hanging over the shoulder or no...). when they are gone, i let it fly. or do it in PM. to me there's nothing funnier than being called a "fa.g" by my pasty white, hetero peers. especially when their last name ends in PhD. hehe.
yes GS, diplomacy is needed here. but GD sluggy, seriously. if this isn't about woot, i'll eat my GD hat. you started getting crankier and crankier about 6-7 months ago...about the time that woot and i always found a way to be on the same team. get a handle on it. it's a game. you don't have to like the folks you play with, but keep in it proportion. woot is an __hole. yes. he knows it (and so was Bolo...but if we didn't like him, we tolerated him enough to where we thought we did). most of us are __holes in our own way, but if a loudmouth, leftcoast liberal like me can get along with a good ol' boy from Texas, isn't there hope for world peace? i'd like to think so. but then again, i'm gay.

sitting smoking at a goal, when the flag is across the map is outright stupid. no other bones about it. on the other hand, "refreshing" a player who's gun you actually need at that moment is also stupid. eventually you begin to know when to refresh or when not to.

@Stink:
You know that I rank you as a superlative player. & hold no ill feelings toward you.
Firstly, I don't "hate" Woot or even dislike him, or even you for that matter. I would rate Woot as a sold player with unquestionable skill. He appears to have a sincere dedication to the game and has expended a great deal of time and energy in it. My criticism of his "changes" to the maps have nothing to do with my feelings about him as a person. I will put that in the first person, w00t my criticisms of your "changes" have nothing to do with my feelings about you as a person or as a player.
Secondly, though I have very little ego involvement when I play I do become annoyed when a teammate intentionally steals my goals or rushes in with a smoking tank to grab a free flag when I am there in a virgin machine. I do become annoyed with being blamed for others' mistakes or with having my errors blown out of proportion. I become frustrated with having my good advice ignored by my teammates. I may not be the strongest player in a game but I will match my tactical knowhow against anyone.
Sure, sometimes I wax prolific on topics that others may not find amusing but rarely when a match is at stake; and I type quickly enough that I spend less time making my asides than most folx do complaining about them.
As for game play, I take a different perspective than do most other players. I watch where dead tanks respawn. I notice spawn clustering and pay attention to the outcomes of duels. It is upon this that I base my suggestions for game play.
I don't like heroics because I recognize that Leeroys often yield as many points as they score. I do like solid, cooperative team play.
Since, for whatever reason, I am not a great marksman I focus on blocking and forcing turnovers. I call passes early to alert my teammates. I run interference, absorbing damage that could take the striker down. I pass whenever I feel I have a less than even chance of scoring a goal. I'll sometimes run with a flag absorbing hits then pass to a healthy teammate in an effort to improve his survival chances. I don't dive for "health & position" because by my analysis it is unfair. I seldom kill opponents unless there is profit to be had, preferring to leave them smoking - for the same reason that infantrymen wound enemies rather than kill them.
As much as I dislike heavily imbalanced games, I doubt that I have ever left a game for that reason.
I am of the opinion that good tactics will dominate even the most skillful opponents.
I have no illusions about my level of skill relative others, though there are times when I wish my trivial contributions were more appreciated.
I play TTanks because I enjoy the game and on the whole like the other players.
Yes, sometimes I strike out but I take a whole lot of crap before I do and I don't hold a grudge.
If I have a single overweening fault it is that I have a very low tolerance for voluntary ignorance.
In conclusion, Stink, your assessment is erroneous on this particular issue. Would you like a Sauce Bernaise with that hat?

if i had to eat it, yes. i'll bet you make a lovely sauce. but i don't feel so inclined...
what i want is for you to be a straight shooter. not literally -- i mean, c'mon. i mean to let go what ever it's is that's been chafing your hiney, and just play. i forgive you your banter, but your attacks and your erratic, tyrannical admining i'd rather forget than have to forgive.
i personally can't be bothered hating someone i've never met. i may not really like some players, but i try not to hold a grudge. and since i have met you and your lovely wife and i liked you in person, i'd prefer to like you in game. it is not in my imagination that your attitude toward me has taken a sour turn. own up. you blame woot...and you don't like him. hell, no one does.
say it, and move on. "i hate wOOt!" there. feel better? i do. you don't have to have breakfast with him, or car pool with him...you just gotta play a silly game with him.
as for you tactics...you lost me at the third embedded clause. hell, if it works for you, let er rip. you are a solid player, especially around the goal. you surprise folks there, actually. anyway, just quit being such a damn d***!!!

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
If you want to know what annoyed me a few months back it was the constant bitching about game balance by some players when they were losing and those same players pretending like balance wasn't a problem when they were mangling their opposition by margins of five to one. That is the reason that I played as Varga and stopped admining in TS for over a month. It is also the reason I no longer take any responsibility for game balance beyond switching a Red player in and out.
I don't feel any animosity toward w00t. I am just critical of his recent hacks to ChaosScrum and ScrumBag. I have no problem separating my feelings about someone and my analysis of their product. If folx thought about it they might realize that my recently increased ability to score demonstrates just how much these mods have weakened defensive play.
You,on the other hand, are beginning to get on my one remaining nerve.
Let me give you a quick reference Matthew 7:3 --
BTW, my previous post is composed nearly entirely of simple declarative sentences - no embedded clauses.

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
subordinated clauses throughout. speech language pathologist here. BS someone else. anyway, i was being flip. my point was that you've used up a lot of print rationalizing your method for some reason. most good players don't bother. they just play well without worrying the explanation.Since, for whatever reason, I am not a great marksman I focus on blocking and forcing turnovers.
Secondly, though I have very little ego involvement when I play I do become annoyed when a teammate intentionally steals my goals or rushes in with a smoking tank to grab a free flag when I am there in a virgin machine
I seldom kill opponents unless there is profit to be had, preferring to leave them smoking - for the same reason that infantrymen wound enemies rather than kill them.
and your timeline of events is truncated. here's what really happened: you began to complain that woot and i (although others were involved) communicated via skype. that we had therefore an unfair advantages "communication is a force multiplier" you'd say. you would then use your admin to split up out team. woot, who signed in first called you out on it. after that, you simply complained about it, over and over again. you also drew fire for not understanding how to balance teams. your solutions made things worse, as you tended to overestimate your abilities as a player. what you didn't get was that you were actually making things worse by appointing yourself to the weaker team.
so you took more heat. gradually you played by alias. and then lately, you're back sniping at me in PM about how woot has ruined the maps...how they're designed for his strengths...etc. etc.
i'm just going to drop this. oh, and mathew? never met him by that number or any other. implying i'm a hypocrite because i...er...yeah, solid allusion there.
you don't want to own up. so be it.

five more signs (the second being the reign of Memphis), and we have our apocalypse. i'd caution your interpretation of slug's biblical citation. some people resent christians so much they memorize the bible to throw it back in christians faces. such is the extent of their bitterness.

Yea verily, my tongue in cheek comment was merely to point out that Sluggy, a well-documented skeptic/cynic, has used scripture to prove his point. This is the very definition of proof texting, taking a tidbit of biblical writings to support one's argument, which in all cases should be read with cautious eyes. Case in point, my signature.
