@ mini all i can say is that had to be totally inadvertent, I consider you one of the classiest guys I know in this game, in fact your on a very very short list, sorry I did not even notice I did that.
RX hit the nail on the head, Fish is finally getting fed up with the ("me" "I") got to score mentality brought by this new group of players.
Slug dude your taking it to far, this is not the roaring 20's where teenagers fear adults, it's a different era, you reach youth in a completely different way now a days, banning someone for not wanting to play with you, dude truth be told there is a long list. Difference being a lot are adults and just have some class an etiquette. Many of the younger players have come to me and asked me why you either hate them or are always on their case. These youngsters, some annoying yes.... But they are the future of this game, many of them are modding and skinning. We possibly have the next Roo, Dash ect... Run them off and were looking at the end sooner than later.

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
I did not ban Stiff for any single incident. I did so because I have frequently asked him to stop his argumentative chatting during the game & to cease being competitive with his teammates. I have warned him on several occasions regarding those issues.
@Rx:
That's right I don't like to be recycled by a teammate I prefer to let an opponent do it. I do not agree that it is a good strategy. Recycling takes the attention of two teammates away from the game. The seconds, or fractions thereof, spent recycling a teammate can be better spent focusing on the opposition. A damaged tank can be well used both defensively and offensively. My damaged tank can, and often does, absorb hits that make the allow the player I am protecting to score. When you recycle me you not only waste time but you remove a defensive benefit.
By the same measure, if recycling teammates is a good team strategy then why do players "recycle" smoking opponents after a goal or when they are in the outfield?
Neither do I like "diving for health & position". I have explained its unfairness in many posts. And yeah, I'm one of those people who won't do something he thinks is "wrong" no matter how popular it may be.
I pay a lot of attention to tactics & strategy both because analysis is my forte and because of my increasing ineptitude. My reaction time is in the range of 1/3 second or greater. You young sprouts react in half that time or less. Still I endeavor to make my self useful in the game. I force a lot of turnovers, even with smoking, battle-scarred tanks. My success per goal attempt rate is actually quite high because I rarely take risks. In a game a couple nights ago, Rx, I scored three goals and gave away one to defenders; while you scored six goals and provided the opponents with four - that calculates to 2 out of 3 versus 2 out of 6. When playing Red I rarely yield the flag to either team when they can easily score.
I begin a long chat when either I am Red - hence inconsequential to the conflict between Blue & Green or when the score & teams are so lopsided as to make my involvement trivial.
@Stink:
Yes, I am offended by your frequent chats of "f*a*g", "gay" and "homo". That does not make me a turd. I am offended because I imagine how I might feel if one of my friends who is gay were to be reading the screen over my shoulder. These are not clever or funny words in any context. The fact that your middle school students frequently use them is not a measure of their wit but of their cruelty. When I see adults spouting the same vile drivel I am more than offended.
Your latest tizzy fit seems motivated by my questioning you in a game if you knew which team you were on. I asked because you had four times relinquished the flag to opponents when there seemed to be no reason such a mistake unless it were intentional, given your extraordinary skill.
To all:
I apologize for my angry outbursts lately not only is the use of strong language uncommon for me in the game it is also uncommon for me in the real world. I will endeavor to not allow myself to make such outbursts future.
Adming can be a pain in the arse. Some players complain about lack of balance in a game unless they are on stronger team. Some players refuse to play unless teams are made "more fair" then complain when they are switched. Some players nag about why something was done or was not done.
If you have noticed I don't do much team balancing lately and when I do I nearly always posit changes as a question and wait for agreement from the other players.
On the other hand, I do silence players who are carping, being continually offensive or being argumentative.
If you think you can do a better job of admining than I can, Stinky, I suggest you try. (MOUTH <== MONEY)
As regards the latest map hacks. I don't like them. I believe they remove an important defensive dimension from the game, no matter how much time has been invested in them. Tuning maps so that they favor a particular style of play is not, in my mind, an improvement.
...granpa sluggy who really used to enjoy the game even when he lost.

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
I myself do it for an irrational sense of closure. From all the times that killing other tanks has been good (indy, t/bm, goal area blocking) it's become a gut preference to hold the mouse down and see that other tank flip over rather than press the space bar and leave something "unfinished" as it were. It's bad strategy most of the time, but it's somewhat instinctual.By the same measure, if recycling teammates is a good team strategy then why do players "recycle" smoking opponents after a goal or when they are in the outfield?
This is a rather interesting question in itself. Does anyone else have theories as to why they or others do that?

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
@ Monica,
Gurl you guys are the future of this game, it's changed and those willing to move on with the change will be around, those not willing to will be left in the dust. As far as knowing when to respawn someone you seem to have a good handle on it, I have never had a problem when you have respawned me, pretty much because you watch radar.
No matter who you are these new kids on the block that have game are the future and rather than dis on them and try and throttle them why don't we all try and encourage them, who knows what will come of it.
As of this moment there are no new mods in the works, other than the amazing trick the Daz man pulled off. Stiff and a bunch of the young guns are really fipping deep into modding, it will be exciting to see what comes of this if the so called adults don;t screw it up.

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
hey slug: tizzy fit? really? no, i was just flabbergasted by the extent of your gall. for you to question anyone about their prowess is way beyond the pale. the game previous to the one in quesion, i had scored 10 points against a team absolutely loaded and by some miracle, we won. in the game you're talking about, i found myself constantly surrounded and unsupported by you and some of the other players on the team. you were doing your usual "banter" or sitting smoking at the goal, or missing the guy who was shooting my a$$ up, not looking for the pass etc etc etc...imagine that. anyway, blah blah blah. enough said. i think folks that know me and you in game won't have any illusions about who's game needs questioned. perhaps if you'd shhhh...... and play, your teammates wouldn't be so pissed off all the time. your very presence throws the entire game outta balance. in that situation, you have no idea how flabbergasted i already was trying essentially to stand up to an already overpowering team with you and another lesser player playing like noobs.
when you play like that, your very presence throws the game outta wack. think about that. we're trying to have fun, but it isnt fun to be down a man. when you try and actually play, you're not all that bad...
and now lets move on to an incident that happened -- what? two-three months ago? one that by the way you frame it makes me look like some kind of reprobate. regarding the obviously lamer comments of "gay" "f.ag" "homo" and so on. in case you didn't notice, that's how a great number of the vets interact in scrum on the more drunken nights. but only later in the evening when the kids are gone. it is obviously ironic, and clearly tongue in cheek taunting, ala middle school. you want to grand stand your BS morality, go ahead. you don't get to dictate irony or "cool." don't make it seem like it's a stink thing. it isn't. now its primarily done under PM, which is fine and proper. guess what? i get a "you fa.g" from just about everyone when i score a tricky one, and i do it back to them. you'd be surprised...
slug used to be an eccentric, grumpy good natured guy. what happened?
here's what i think this is really about. you hate wOOt, slug. and your hatred of him colors nearly every interaction you have on TT these days. grow the F___ up. seriously, grow up. you do nothing but bit.ch about him, bi.tch at me when i'm on his team, bit.ch about the maps, and berate younger players...we used to get along...and along came wOOt. now we don't. go figure. wOOt has completely corrupted me, i guess...or maybe just affected you.
and yes, you are a crappy admin.

That's how I talk. To me, calling a person who is obviously hetero a "f@g" is harmless, even to a gay witness. It's not meant to be hurtful, even the most retarded of gays can figure that out. Sorry if it offends, but by being offended, you're giving the word power.

Re: Nightly Scrumbag Discussion
allow me to interject some more diplomacy here...
sluggy has some good points about when to refresh tanks and the goal to turnover ratio ( im more guilty of that than probably anyone ) among other things. problem is, sluggy's delivery stinks.
sluggy, next time you want to make a valid point try to have some more patience with us as a whole. and a softer delivery wouldnt hurt either. im sure you will find a more attentive audience.
on the f.ag issue
at first i too was really bothered by the amount of homophobic comments that were being thrown about. but then i began to understand and sensed the heavy tongue in cheek delivery. i've allowed myself to loosen up about it when im in certain groups but i will admit that its an instant boot when im admining a daytime server or when i know younger players are around. maybe its a double standard...maybe im full of BS, but i would hate to think anyone thought i was homophobic or supported any such behavior.
oh...and stink, had i been in that game you had scored 10 you would have received a warning about the 12 point rule. if i find out that you scored 12 in a game after the fact expect a boot the next time i see you in game.
gotta keep that dude in check lest he ruin all our self esteem.
