How about a post of yours from the past - prior to the need for stimulus - where you complained about spending. Search three to four year old threads about prescription drug benefits for seniors. Or try one of the many Iraq war threads. In fact, I'll take anything from you prior to 2009 that even hints at concern about spending or the deficit.
Good luck.

Re: Obama Tax Cuts Plan?
Post made in 2008. I'm not sure if the queries go back beyond, but this one fits the bill.I still can't believe you are arguing about how much more to give the DC folks. Hello, can't we get these suckers to spend the money they get more efficiently? Let's start with a few bucks less for the UN...
Why don't we do an exercise, like with charities. A good charity gives ~85-90 cents of every dollar to those who need it. Let's see a similar analysis for the government. I bet you it's way less than that.
I don't believe we had much of a political thread going on prior in PTT2 since inception though.

I truly felt sorry for Obama during his press conference with Clinton.
Clinton looked right at home up there. Then Obama goes, "Excuse me folks, my wife and I have a holiday party and she has been waiting for half an hour, so, I gotta go! You're in good hands here (Clinton). See ya later!"
In other words he should have said Im a stupid ass and am overwhelmed with the presidency and I have no balls. Im getting the hell outa here and grabbing some beers and some smokes!
Yes, 44 I was disappointed with Bush. I did defend him on the Iraq war.
ever seen the bumper sticker with his picture on it saying "You miss me yet?""
Love it

Touché, MM. And kudos. Grant you that spending needs attention. Trust you'll agree revenues do, too. Truth is, very tough choices are needed on both sides of the ledger.
KKB, two of the most intellectual, well-spoken political heavyweights of the last 100 years come together to make compelling arguments in support of monumentally important legislation, and you focus on theatrics. Is that what your Fox News or favorite radio hosts told you mattered? Simpleton.

Agreed. Unfortunately, spending won't be reined in until the American public educate themselves on what exactly it is their representatives are spending on and speak out. Also, as you have said, revenues need to be addressed, but I'd like to be reassured that the money they are asking for is truly necessary first before we address the best method of collecting the revenue and what that amount should be.
Sometimes when crises are averted by DC by spending money, it seems to go to the wrong people. We had that in Iraq and somehow it seems the stimulus package had the same result, but I have no proof or hard numbers to point to.
Every time I hear local politicians talk about Federal dollars I cringe because it's not somebody else's money. It's our money. Those dollars come from people like you and me, not some ATM in the sky. Let's treat it as we would treat our own money then.
It's too simplistic to say that the rich have more so they should pay more. It makes the tax increases more palatable to the voting public by playing the economic classes off against each other. Perhaps the rich are paying too much, maybe they are not paying enough, but I'd rather the American public be the judge rather than the politicians who have no stake in the outcome. Perhaps a national referendum on the next tax rate schedule?

Agree with most of your points. But, it's unfair to make the argument, with the deficit as large as it is, that one side needs to be addressed before the other. Look at what the deficit reduction commission has said...revenues and spending, in concert. And lastly, I think you'll agree there's a problem of symmetry when the upper 2%, whose share of all the nation's income has risen from 9% to 26% in 15 years, has a decreasing tax burden.

Re: Obama Tax Cuts Plan?
I don't know how to argue with you, KKB.
I think you just disagreed that Clinton and Obama are well-spoken, intellectual, political heavyweights. I don't know where to go with that.
And then you said that I'm a dufus if I believe that an extension of an expiring tax cut is a tax cut. Again, I'm at a loss for how to respond to that kind of thinking.
And then lastly -- and right after your "dufus" statement -- you say that name calling is sophomoric. I'm scratching my head and left wondering if you're trying to be funny.
How about you and I just agree that we think about things differently?

44-
Nothing personal.
I thought we agreed to disagree a long time ago.
Obama is a great speaker. He also never held a real job before becoming our leader. He also was not born in the country that he is leading.
Just like Hilter!! How bout them apples?
