well...i am now having the same issue and the described fix is not working for me.

i recently updated my OS to 10.6.8 because i got the new iPhone and it required the latest iTunes and OSx security updates. havent been able to get on since.

when i do the terminal thing i get the following response:

-bash: /Games/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks.app: is a directory

am i doing something wrong in terminal? should TT have opened in windowed mode doing this? i am not savvy with terminal so any help would be appreciated.

GS- You'll need to get into the folders inside the TT app.

If I just drag TT into a Terminal window, I get this...

Code: Select all

Mini:~ LGM$ /Applications/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks.app -windowed
-bash: /Applications/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks.app: is a directory
I tried Phobik's directions about windowed, and got that result. Notice I added
" -windowed" to the command.

Next, I realized that you have to do the following:

1) Right click or control click the TT application

2) Choose "Show package contents" in the menu that pops up

3) Open the "Contents" folder, and open the "MacOS" folder inside Contents

4) Drag the "ThinkTanks OSX" icon into a terminal window.

5) add a space and "-windowed" to what pops up in the terminal window.

6) Hit return, and off you go. You should get something like this:

Code: Select all

Mini:~ LGM$ /Applications/ThinkTanks/ThinkTanks.app/Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks\ OSX -windowed

thanks LGM, that got it to open. it is still very buggy though as TT will crash if i try to go to full screen mode at anytime before actually entering a server. not a major deal but the game screen becomes pixelated going to full screen in server and i lose the ability to see any text that is typed.

bit of a bummer

I haven't had that happen, but if you get in touch with Baba and supra, they were having the issue. Maybe they have some tips that will help you get it running better. It's a screen resolution issue for sure.

I ran into supra in game tonight. He said he uses the prefs.cs file to set windowed mode. Just change this line of code to make it work:

Code: Select all

$pref::Video::fullScreen = "0";
It is inside the client prefs.cs file.

Show the package contents in TT, then go down this path to the file

Contents/Resources/game/client/prefs.cs

Find the line, which may say

Code: Select all

$pref::Video::fullScreen = "0";
or it may say

Code: Select all

$pref::Video::fullScreen = "1";
Zero makes the game run windowed, one makes it full screen. Set it the way you want, save the file, throw away the prefs.cs.dso, and fire up the game. It should work.

Glad its working for you Get.
You have to enter TT in windowed mode.
Once inside a server (on the map itself) you can switch to full screen.
If you leave the server you have to go to window mode again , till you select a new server to enter, or it will crash and you start again.

Its a weird and quirky work around but works fine now in all other ways, oh except I still cant shoot belikin.

that seems to be what happens with me Baba except with one extra wrinkle.

if i go to full window mode once i am in a server the game screen is noticeably more pixelated (not a major deal) and more importantly i lose the ability to see any text that is being written (weather it be someone else saying something or my own text).

i may just see if i can adapt to window mode....on a 27" screen the window is rather small though.

its really strange that, all of a sudden OSx stopped being able to open TT. programming is a foreign language to me. anyone savvy enough to have an idea as to why that happened in the first place?

GS...

I had to adjust my screen resolution and play around with it to get it to be clear and smooth. Though I have to admit that it caused me some real problems for a while to get it right so I could play. Really annoying...

I also adjusted several other things to get it to work in the settings. If you think it would be helpful, I can give you the exact settings that I have in the TT settings that I am using on my iMac.

Just let me know..
