Microsoft Finally Takes Notice of Linux

Post by Rooster »

And in true MS fashion does not consider Open Source to be better.
Does not rewrite core operating system to eliminate their bloated architecture.

But does now consider Linux a threat
Sooooooo..........
What does Microsoft do?

Sues the major Linux distro companies for 253 copywrite infringements
Typical!!!

I think I have to root for Linux on this, Microsoft has way too much of a monopoly in the OS business...

Yes I found that rather amusing.

After tooling around in Vista for a few days I was impressed with the eye candy and ease of use. But if your not running a dual core with at least 2GB of ram your gona be slow comparativly. It loads a ton of stuff at start up. Nice if your doing office work, not so much if your doing stuff that needs the memory or cpu's. Would not recommend getting Vista for an older computer.

Tried dual booting me intel mac with vista ... have you not noticed that vista sometimes hogs ful cpu usage, when it's not doing anything in particular

not convinced by vista, even if it does have cool seethrough bars at the tops of windows

You can get a theme like that for Beryl, which is a LOT less CPU-intensive (3D-acelerated).

Linux better not lose anything on this. It's just making Windows look even worse than it is... which isn't great at all.

Greenpeace went after Microsoft for that... Vista makes old computers obsolete, and therefore, junk that ruins the environment. That's why I'm keeping my laptop around at least another few months with a more snappy OS- the uberfast SAM Linux- installed. Light on resources, heavy on eye-candy (Mac OS-like launcher, both 3D desktops as installed options, transparent windows via Xfwm...)
