We are talking a baseball traveling team aren't we?

Dar has been playing with a traveling team the past few summers.
He was this summer too, up at a regional tournament in Reno , NV.
He was pitching, then up to bat, got a single, got to second, coach gave the bunt and run sign, only the batter didnt bunt, so Dar was kinda left out to dry approaching third, he tried to do a head first sweeping slide around the third baseman who was receiving the throw from the catcher, actually made it around him, but when his body bounced on the ground, the toe of his cleat dug in and held his foot while his body twisted, he felt a "pop" in his foot. He actually had his hand on the base before the tag was applied, but with the pain to his foot, and the shock of feeling the "pop" he reflexively reached down to his foot with his hands and was called out.
X-rays were negative for a fracture, that was good, though a "deep sprain" has put him out of the action for a number of weeks now.
Injuries can snuff dreams in a second, dont let the coaches over use him.
Its so easy to get caught in the competition and excitement of it all. I know, believe me. Just try to keep a long range perspective.
Young bodies are not meant to stand up to constant athletic rigors that they are being put through these days.
In the old days, kids would play all sports, seasons would change , sports would change, stress to different parts of the body would change.
Now with more early focus with some kids on a single sport and playing that near year a round - a lot more athletic type injuries are happening are happening earlier.
The bodies - bones, joints , ligament/tendons are still growing and not suited for the degree of use and abuse they are receiving.
Quite a few peers of Dar's had significant arm and shoulder problems at ages 12-15. Some requiring surgery, some extended rehab and Physical Therapy.
That just flat out shouldn't be happening to kids that age.

well I sat in a server 3 weeks in a row in undermanned teams. TOOMS are actually the first PSL team in history to show up a man short in the post season. Could this be a sign the PSL days are numbered?
